I think they are good to have, but I play way too many RPG Maker games and I personally do not use them. I do usually play this game with a controller though. That's not the question, but feel like I should point out that I don't use the keyboard very often in this game.

I absolutely always use the hot keys! I rather I spend my time in game rather than in menus even if they are really well designed menus so I rely on the hot keys.

I use them all the time in combat, not as much outside of it.

I find it's hard to use hot keys when using one hand lol
