From Chris: Fine Aretha Franklin biopic with an obligatory helping from her vast music catalog. Possibly too long and copies some of the same beats from Lady Sings The Blues, but is otherwise a competent prestige pic designed for award season.

I was wondering why it didn't get a UHD release beforehand and now know why. The DP and director went for a very gritty film texture. The color grading is...decidedly odd for a newer film. Every color looks dull and slightly off, even washed out with glare. They definitely went for a retro aesthetic which softens everything. Lackluster PQ despite a very nice Atmos mix.
