YAY!

In case you didn't hear, the promised 1.8.1 hotfix for Stellaris has been released (as an opt-in beta). It's still in beta but I went ahead and updated The Asari Civilisation as soon as I could (1.8.1 beta is now required for it to work, unfortunately the fix is not backwards-compatible). Elves of Stellaris is still on 1.7 but we'll be getting it up to date once Nessa is back from her trip.

But in the meantime I'M SO HAPPY this is over! And I'm so grateful to Paradox for their quick response and listening to our feedback. It's the most modder-friendly company I've had the pleasure of creating content for and I love it n_n The incident was very annoying and stressful to many modders and mod users but the important thing is that it's been corrected and more than compensated for.

The new implementation in the form of intermediary "species archetypes" is exactly the solution I was personally hoping for and it opens up so many possibilities for future projects!

But that's enough fangirling, I promised some teasers, didn't I? ^^

What we have here should be familiar to anyone who's played Mass Effect 3 - the Jon Grissom Academy, as seen from space. It's a human space station that offers education to the best and brightest in all areas of science, even Biotics, essentially serving the same purpose as the Science Nexus in Stellaris!

So naturally (ha... ha... right, okay so it took us a... while to arrive here, we're really good at missing the obvious inspirations) we thought it might be a nice callback to use its basic design and... asari it up a little bit!

A few iterations and revisions later, this is what we ultimately settled on! A design that can be broken up into 3 distinct stages. Just like the vanilla Science Nexus, it starts with the core in the middle and expands out from there!

Of course, it wouldn't be an asari megastructure without some GLOW 2.0 so we immediately started looking for good places to stick it into ^^ The thin edges are one of the possible candidates, a bright outline in the darkness of space.

For the central part, the core of the structure, we want to do two things: 1) put something bright, spinny and sci-fi looking inside the tube and 2) test a new idea Nessa came up with - glass refraction, possibly with colourful habitats under a very pretty semi-transparent ceiling. No pictures yet but from the samples she showed me, it looks amazing, you'll see soon! ≧∇≦

Aaaand this is where we are at now! Not yet done adding details and figuring out the function and purpose of all the elements but we're very happy with how it ended up looking so far! The Sentry Array still sets the bar on our megastructures so of course we won't be satisfied until we exceed it! ◠‿◠
