Jonesy

its funny because it just stays the same quality for the entire rest of the season

This episode was so good for us Choso fans. One of the best episodes ever made. The lighting was so on point and it was so cinematic. I would love to see this in a theater.

Trevor Ohman

the direction of this episode was unreal

Melafurina

The song that played during the 3rd act of the fight was actually a remix of Remember, one of my favourite tracks from season 1 and also the track that played when Yuji and Nobara fought Chosos brothers in ep 24

V STAN

One of the best episodes in the series 🔥

Sarai

I was so hyped even before this episode was released but never expected them to add scenes to the fight and make it even better! This is my favorite fight mainly because I’m a fan of Choso, and maybe even the staff are fans too lol. Starting from this episode the season kicks up a notch for sure.

Sam

This episode was fire the whole way through. Fortunately, there’s even more where that came from. Hold onto your butts lol

MfGoodnight

Episode was insane , you’re in for a wild ride going forward 😤

Renegade

Well, there is that one episode later that's a bit slower, but otherwise yes it stays pretty consistent from here on out

Thrombosis is clotting. A spontaneous clot is a huge issue as it could travel to the heart, lungs or brain causing severe organ damage.

Big battle scenes will usually have a seasoned director come onboard to direct, though different studios do things differently or give a chance to new talent (usually animators) to direct, but such staff is often called even from other studios on their own reputation alone. The Choso fight is apparently directed by Kazuto Arai. If you ever feel like learning more about the BTS of anime (specifically the animation itself) a great channel on youtube for that is The Canipa Effect, he's stopped doing videos now but you might like some of his videos on attack on titan.

Danyul

There's both a dedicated director and episode directors, usually the head director will set the main foundations for how a season should go and episode directors basically get to flaunt their own style within that foundation. A lot of talented minds worked on this season so really all the fights feel super unique

Lijnaito2021 !

Choso is him! That fight broke the Internet when it aired!

Tpoints

the second track you asked for is Red Scale - absolute banger that was cut pretty short in this episode compared to the full version

Jonesy

i dont mean to mislead btw. i think the reason everyone hypes this episode is because it has a really outstanding visual direction. but i maintain that the music, fight choreography, animation and writing just get better.

The track list for this episode in order is: "Attack by Storm" (Right when the fight started) "Self-Embodiment of Perfection" (Choso gets fired up about avenging his brothers) "With Rage" (Choso uses Supernova) "Prepare Yourself" (Mechamaru proposes his plan) "Ultimate Mechamaru Absolute Form" (Yuji begins his attack in the restrooms) "Red Scale" (Explanation on Choso's ability backfiring) "Countermeasure for Domain Expansion" (The two go at eachother full force again) "Resolve" (Yuji baits Choso with a right feint to try to end the fight) "Memories" (Choso's false memories) The really memorable ones imo are Self-Embodiment of Perfection, Red Scale, Countermeasure for Domain Expansion, and Resolve. Self-Embodiment was originally Mahito's domain expansion theme from S1 but got reused in some pretty good scenes this season. Resolve is actually an instrumental remix of "REMEMBER" which was used in Yuji and Nobara's tag team fight against Choso's brothers in the final episode of S1.

Tpoints

Oh and the first track was Self-Embodiment of Perfection which is a track from season 1

Helpy

15-17 is HEAT too 😁

Eli L.

Top notch action, can't wait for the next one too

Ryo

When I first saw this ep I was also confused about what happened at the end there, but watching again it looks like he saw his blood mixing with Yuji's blood in a specific way that shouldn't be possible?

Sebastian Stróż

If you are ever ready to go on a crazy journey which involves being very open minded and being ready to read a book worth of subtitles per episode then Monogatari is an absolute masterclass when it comes to mindblowing directing, sound design and story telling.

Bhen

Probably becoming one of my favorite episodes of like anything frl, I know the two songs toward the latter half of the fight are red scale and resolve

Another fantastic piece of art direction: Starting at about 9:50, when Mechamaru is explaining Blood Manipulation to Yuji, the "camera" pans over a row of lit-up panels. Those panels have the symbols and names of various types of Blood Manipulation techniques on them. It starts with SS, aka Sekketsu-Sojutsu (Blood Manipulation), then it shows Byaku-ren (Convergence), then Sen-Ketsu (Piercing Blood), and then Katsu-Jin (Blood Blade). Lastly, it shows the green panel of Cho-Shin-Sei (Supernova).

ITADORI YUJI >:(

i love this episode because of the hand to hand combat and choso's ability is just simply creative/badass 1000000%

To answer some questions. In addition to the series director there are episode directors, this episode was directed by Kazuto Arai and Takumi Sunakohara. Arai stated that after the storyboard they only had 2 months to make the episode. The entire season was being made under abysmal deadlines with the only thing keeping it from crashing was the insane talent and passion from the people working on it.

Eric

Every episode from here just keeps getting better and better, each week becomes the new peak.

Aidy

It just keeps going up bro 🫡
