Thank you Tony. It was difficult for me to watch the anime while understanding English perfectly, so I appreciate it very much!

Totally understand where your coming from brother. If the sun is more your style right on!! Still getting that CG reaction and now I get your insight of hearing both!! Awesome mor content for me

Dolfy

This is the first time I've seen a reactor make this kind of switch. I dig it. Hope it increases your enjoyment of the series.

Brayan Yepiz

Btw Lelouch’s VA is the same as Matsumoto from vivy

Loayza

Suzaku's Japanese VA is the same as Geto from JJK and Taki-sensei from Sound Euphonium

Glad to see it! The re-watch was fun, looking forward to the next one!

Jet Man

Imagine if we could have a viewing experience where all the Japanese characters spoke in Japanese and all the Britannians spoke in English.

Jonesy

this is cool

Haven't watched this set of episodes yet, but an issue with anime dubs that probably lead to this situation is that they're never going to have as much budget for voice talent as the original, let alone the same stewardship for the final product. Probably the best dubs you can experience are Studio Ghibli dubs because Disney actually handled a lot of them and got big name talents involved. For example Christian Bale is the titular Howl in Howl's Moving Castle. I'm sure dubs have come a long way since then but anything older you're gonna get recommended is probably gonna have some weird voice choices in there at best.

Johnny

I watched it dub but definitely wanna rewatch it sub

Jet Man

The amount of characters in this series is also huge compared to Death Note.

Levo

I've seen it before with Code Geass but the other way around where they started sub then switch to dub. Personally I love the dub so a little disappointing with the switch but it's not the end of the world because there's plenty of reacts for the dub of this show.

Levo

I don't know which audio version CR uses but it should be known there's a newer audio mix for the Japanese that makes changes with the music that some fans find inferior. [edit] After comparing with my blu-ray this appears to use the original music instead of the new remix so that's good.

Subs > Dubs. Except for some really rare moments like Panty and Stocking.

Unknowable

The older a show, the less likely it is to have a good dub, since anime was not as prevalent back then. In general the sub is better, though some shows do have phenomenal dubs. Too bad this is not one of them.

LagSpike

That’s really unfortunate bc the code geass dub is so much nicer to listen to. Johnny Yong Bosch always kills as Lelouch and Yuri Lowenthal is a great Suzaku

LagSpike

This dub cast is like the same as what we have in like 2015 with iron blooded orphans. I don’t really get the gripes

Did you watch the first 45 seconds of this video? In regards to your comment, two good VA were not enough to keep me from not taking it seriously with how bad the other VA were. It was like an American cartoon from the 80s. Any direction I went on this one side is not gonna be happy but it was killing the watch experience for me.

JuanPe

Awesome Tony! Are you doing the opening full review anytime soon? Cheers brother

JsnSkg

Would love for an anime to pull a Tekken and just have everything in native languages.

Sarai

The CG dub is rather decent as far as dubs go, especially at that time. Never watched the sub, tho I’m not saying the dub is better. But Yong Bosch absolutely kills it in those dramatic moments. Jun Fukuyama is also awesome in his own right. His voice acting career is still going strong today and he sings too. Actually voices a few characters in some of my favorite series. He’s absolutely hilarious when he plays a weak vampire in a supernatural comedy and it’s hard to believe he also voices Lelouch xD

Maxine

thanks for this.

JoeyGuy7

A lot of people have VERY strong nostalgia for the dub performances in older shows. For a new viewer it likely won't be the same experience as an old viewer has

William Burke

I definitely agree with you on the dub bit. It's why I watch everything subbed. There are definitely some good dub VA's but side characters often aren't done well in my opinion and it throws the experience off for me.

Thank you🥹
