Essentially Geto has been dead since the movie (Which takes place before S1) But Gojo had the girl doctor (Shoko Ieri) they were both friends with, handle his body, which somehow allowed this cursed spirit to obtain Geto's body. All the plotting and schemes "Geto" was doing in S1 and this Shibuya incident was actually this curse (hence his forehead scar) the whole time This means we don't know wtf this guys plan is because he's not even the same dude Geto was.

Helpy

I only watch the anime so I get just as confused as you but it's just creepy we know nothing about this brain curse yet he's been here the whole time

Yes read up on the wiki/recaps because it's gonna go FAST and it won't wait for you to catch up (I've also had to do my own research in between eps - youre not alone!) Welcome to the start of the Shibuya Incident!

Small correction, Shoko DIDNT handle the body which left it open to being taken.

So yeah, it wasn't super clear but Geto was killed in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 by Gojo. That's why he's so confused, this is a whole another villain that we didn't know about just using Geto's body. The Geto we see in Season 1 is not Geto. Also, a little bit of context for that board game they were playing. I don't know if you know about it but it's called Mahjong. It's a similar game to Poker and the winning hand they showed us when they seal Gojo was called 13 Orphans, a really rare winning hand (1/2464 probability). Basically it represents how many conditions needed to be met to put Gojo Satoru in a checkmate.

One of the things that really confused me at first was the whole "Stand Still for a Minute" aspect and essentially, he wasn't actually still for a minute it's just that when he saw Geto he thought of all the years of time they were together and thinking of that time in his mind apparently fulfilled the conditions to seal him. It's really weird because what does "A minute in someone's mind" even mean? It just seemed really specific and only applicable to this situation. Also, a small hint that it wasn't really Geto this whole time was the lack of calling regular non-sorcerors "Monkeys" because that's what the actual one started calling them. It's been a minute but in the movie Geto said he didn't have any hatred towards the school or other sorcerors.

You have not done the ending yet! By one of my favorite bands Hitsujibungaku.

You're scaring me 😅 But I'll take your advice

My man this is just the beginning of what's to come. The reason this arc has become so iconic is because it keeps leaving you feeling like they couldn't possibly top this episode and then what do you know, they just keep topping it over.... and over... and over again

Helpy

I interpreted it as Gojo would assume "It's just a minute" and see no harm in stopping to think, because he was unaware of what would happen. I saw it as he actually stood there for 1 minute trying to understand how Geto was there (but from a viewer's perspective they sped it up so it's not just Gojo standing there)

The info amount and body count is crazy high. If only this had the Code Geass recaps to make things easier to follow! But it also feels rewarding to see details you remember/wonder about in previous episodes become important in later ones.

That’s super interesting about the 13 orphan info. I knew it was mahjong but I know nothing about the different hands or their meanings

Jogo in his own horror movie, and Gojo is the killer lol. I really like the way they did that with the music and "camera" angles.

Oh, people telling you about "it's coming" meant the whole season. It just doest stop :D
