When you spoke about being the sick party member in a dnd campaign, it reminded me of a session that I once DM'd. The party was meeting bandits in the city sewers to try to pay the ransom for the princess that was kidnapped. The party got the bright idea to put the halfling in the bag instead of the money, so that when they went to check the contents, he could do a sneak attack on the bandit who checks it. But there was so much back and forth between the bandits and the party, that the rogue was basically twiddling their thumbs for most of that session until combat began.
