As someone who played the game, I kind of get the metaphor here. There are multiple ways to interpret this, though. Or maybe they went with dolls because building 200 human sized androids for the sole purpose of destroying them for a music video would be a tad expensive. Someone correct me if I am wrong (very possible), but the female androids are the battle units and the male androids are the scouting units.

This music video is in a hidden ending of the game, the 27th ending. It is about a robot trying to find emotion. The singer, Amazarashi wrote this song because he really enjoyed the game and invited Yoko Taro, the director of the game, to his concert and played this song for him. He really loved the song and decided to make a DLC for the song hence the 27th ending of the game. There is also a Play Station exclusive DLC which is just called Amazarashi. He also made the ending music for the Nier Automata anime.
