waoh was no expecting this, but Im here for it heck yeah. Oh and the composer's for the music is Evan Call, Music producer Yui Arima, and Music director by Takahiro Ikeda, hope that helps.

Oooh I'm so happy that you're reacting to this! I'm currently reading the manga now, and I promise not to spoil anything, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to help! One of my favourite ongoing stories right now. Also, since you play D&D, I suspect you're going to really enjoy this one :) Ooh I'm excited to see who your favourite character will be!

Xer0FeaR

I read all of what is available. Really awesome story. I am excited to enjoy the anime with the community here ^-^

Robert

Composer is Evan Call

ML Snow

Any Violet Evergarden track composed by Evan Call deserves to be heard. It is very emotional.

Jet Man

Literally watched this last night. Love the soundtrack. It feels like it took inspiration from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, specifically the parts in the Shire.

i did not know you where gonna react to this but am very happy :D

AussieBoy

Figured you were gonna react to this but I didn’t think it’d be so soon! Something fun you might want to know is that the show is directed by Keiichirou Saitou who also directed Bocchi The Rock! This is only the 2nd show he’s ever directed but he’s already established himself as a powerhouse in the industry with his talent and creativity. Cant wait to see the inevitable OP and especially ED reactions :D

Man, the first episode got me twice!! It's a very relaxing show otherwise, allowing for the introspection to sit for a while. As expected of an Elf's long life span! I bet their fiction books drag on Foreverrr lol

PervyPastry

I really love that scene in episode 3. Imagine being frozen in time for "a mere" 80 years only to find out your "Killing magic" is now the meta (Fern has been using it since a child) and humans have developed ways to defend against it. Not only that, now it's called "ordinary offensive magic" implying the humans already move on to a more advanced meta.

This is a really good one to watch as it releases

Someone already said it but I'll also recommend Violet Evergarden. Same composer and also animated by KyoAni (Hibike Euphonium)

0:51 If you sort by newest you'll get the latest episode released “…4,3,2,1”. Sorting by oldest, “1,2,3,4…” is the way to go if you have never seen the series before. I'm sure you got it figured out by now but just wanted to to mention it.

Ryo

I believe you will absolutely love the soundtrack of this anime, composed by Evan Call. He is a master of pulling the heartstrings through music

andoryuguen

Evan call yes but it's being animated by Madhouse (creator of one punch man s1)

Kilo181

Yes I meant also as in addition to, not that Frieren is animated by the same studio.

matthew bremmer

Oh shit I didn't realize this was an OST from evan call. hype.

I can say from reading the manga, it is a slow burn but it sprinkles in just enough excitement. The whole story is more or less the same structure as these first episodes. A larger overarching story but each episode will focus on individual events that tie into the larger story. It's one of the best manga I've ever read, and it will have some bad ass combat scenes, mixed with lots of humor, sorrow but more bittersweet than outright sadness. I actually had to pace myself with the manga because the bittersweet gets to be a bit much if you read too much at once. And lots of emotional parts of the story.

Seris

I've already seen the episodes but it's crazy how much I can focus on the music when you're on screen haha. Didn't realize the soundtrack was this bomb until I actively listened while watching this time. Anyway, this anime is gonna be a slow burner (I also read the manga) but it's very good writing. I definitely understand what you mean by if I was in my teens I'd hit stop but I appreciate this a lot now that I'm an adult.

The broader genre is known as "Slice of Life" in anime which is meant to be very episodic and have a more calm vibe. Similar anime include Mushishi and Kino's Journey.

JsnSkg

I love Frieren's character design. She's so adorable.

JsnSkg

Question: What class do you think Frieren would be in Baldur's Gate 3?

Deadlykin

Im pretty sure that heiter was like 101 when he died. Pretty long lived
