"Kon" (or kon-kon) is a Japanese onomatopoeia for a crying fox. If it you ever hear it out of context, it's highly likely a reference to a fox. Japan has some deity related foxes in their folklore. I'm assuming Aki has to use the fox hand-gesture and say "kon" in order to activate/use the contracted fox. To answer your question if "kon" was used in one of the songs, the third ending with the crazy metal had "kon" in its lyrics. Hope this helped

Anime is mainstream now. It wasn't in my area and era at all. When I was growing up literally nobody watched it or even said the word anime in hs or college. Manga wasn't a thing in cow towns in the 90s my friend.😅 You had a TV antenna. Only wealthy families had cable. But my friend group rented Fist of the Northstar by accident in high school. I think we watched like 2 vhs tapes. That's all I saw until AoT a few months ago.

Concerning just in a joking way because of some of the absurd stuff going on in the show. Of course that's one of the strengths of anime, that it's not limited in many of the ways a lot of other media is.

I think he meant because of how strange this anime is compared to most anime the average anime watcher has seen is all haha. Nothing wrong with never watching anime before or ever, nor starting it at even 70 lol. Just another medium with great stuff in it that’s worth giving a try.
