Vinland Saga falls into a broad category called Seinen. They are typified by more complex and morally/ethically ambiguous stories and themes. Sadly it is a category that is woefully underrepresented in anime. I share a similar love of Attack on Titan as you. I actually originally joined here on Patreon because I thought you had reacted to it. It is a truly singular story IMO. So I do not say lightly that Vinland Saga is definitely the anime that has filled the hole that Attack on Titan left behind. Season 2 is different in the best way possible. Its an incredibly bold risk of storytelling after season 1. But I simply have almost never seen an author make such incredible use of every character.

Season 2 imo better than the first one simply for the amount of influence it had on me
