I’m so glad you are liking Vinland saga so far!! Personally this is one of my favorites of all time and I can’t wait for you to finish season one and start season 2

The Ragnar dream will never fail to make me tear up.

Rewatching this with you just cements how good of a show this is. Can't wait for you to get to season 2 and see you experience the story told there as well since it's one of my most favourite seasons of anime I have ever watched

Mirrorline

Season 1 of Vinland Saga did win many anime awards the year it came out including the biggest award which was CrunchyRoll's anime of the year back in 2019. Season 2 won some awards too but didn't win the big one. It Lost to s2 JJK. JJK is a shounen anime and very hype so there are a lot more fans for this genre. Not saying that JJK was not good but to me, S2 of Vinland is better and has a deeper storyline than JJK.

Lijnaito2021 !

I just realized Canute's VA is Floch from Attack on Titan

Thankfully there's a season 2, but I don't think there's anything quite like vinland out there. Cool to see how much you appreciate it.

Jet Man

It's crazy to think people believe the storytelling in JJK season 2 is better than what Vinland Saga has to offer. The storyline cannot compare, but somehow the story in JJK is better? They are both fun, but cmon, lol.

The mangaka (author) is capable of making so many great characters and every one of them has amazing character development and is so likeable.

Meru Tenchin

Btw from now on almost every episode until the finale you’re gonna say “this is my fav so far” hahaha 😂

Marien Panta

If you enjoy good character development so much than you will love the second season.

Bautista

It sadly got out voted by demon slayer for anime of the year. Demon slayer isnt bad, it just doesn't hold a candle light to this imo. Demon slayer is mostly just good animation and good fight scenes, vinland saga has all the depth and story to it.

That's why the priest was so shocked when he heard about Thors. Somehow a man just beat like a hundred men without killing anyone. And then said: "A true warrior doesn't need a sword" it ties with his idea of love. It was basically hearing about Jesus lol. And that happened again in front of his eyes.

FullHeart

Just to be real with you, the fact that you're saying it like his viewpoint is just a product of the times feels very privileged. There's so many people today around the world and in every country who suffer from war and violence, theft, and so many countless unspeakable crimes. People lie, cheat, steal, and do absolutely horrible things. People suffer in poverty while others hoard wealth. Sure there's good people now, but there were good people then too. And if you put both people in the same situations they do the same thing. He would 100% believe the exact same thing in modern times.

Kingdom is great and it has 5 seasons currently as a possible future watch.

SinuHan

One of the greatest stories Ive ever read. Its a shame the first season was so badly animated

Unknowable

Sadly most manga with storylines this great stay as manga and don't really get adapted. You're watching FMAB right now which does have a similar vibe in that it exposes deeper ideas throughout the show etc... . Most anime usually feels like a fun show rather than a more in depth exploration of some theme like a novel would be. That's fine, it's fun and very much enjoyable, but it is ultimately something the medium lacks in a general sense. This is going to be a bit long to read but I think you'll find it very interesting, being somewhat new to the genre: Most of the anime you have watched is "shonen", literally "young boy", these are stories geared towards younger audiences, though they may not look like it sometimes, it does make sense in that it does not delve into stuff like vinland does, for example. Vinland saga, on the other hand, is "seinen", literally "young adult". There are some really good ones that have anime adaptations out there, but they're not the most popular choices. As a side note, the "big 3" seinen, as agreed upon by a majority of the community, are Vinland Saga, Berserk, and Vagabond (with only VInland Saga here having a satisfactory anime adaptation. Berserk kinda has too, but it's short and skips a lot etc... and vagabond simply doesn't). I'd recommend checking them out some day, as they're the kind ofstories that transcend the medium they're told in.

For me vinland saga is in my top 3. The only anime above it is Hunter X Hunter because it also has that level of intelligence in writing, however it's even better. I know you said you wouldne check out HxH for now but if youre in search of this level of storytelling quality in anime, there is no better than this in my opinion

Lulu

When he wants all the stuff Vinland offers and you guys keep suggesting Demon Slayer... smh

Samurai Champloo is almost as epic as this. Don't take my word for it. Unfortunately it is short like this one as well. Just be mindful that the final season of Vinland is a big cool down. It is epic as far as development goes, but it isn't a bunch of war fronts and duels. No spoilers.

Walt D

💯. Lol. I believe Samurai Champloo gets a bit deep like that with battles to go with it.
