Well, that was fun. I didn't know what to expect by the name as it could have been so many different things with "ensemble" Bring on Season 3!

I do wish we could have heard the winning piece. I feel a lot of anime that have performance based stakes tend to only show one of the winner or loser and not both, which I understand from a writing perspective because they don't have the actual sound in mind when scripting, but it feels unfair to hear what we consider to be a good performance and then just get told that they lost in passing

ah just so you know, there is an after credit scene, it jst didn't make it onto the version uploaded online, but that scene is really just 20sec long, it's sort of a tease for s3. With regards to the volume of the show, if anything I think you usually have it too low such that it's difficult to hear the soundtrack along with you without risking your commentary being way too loud, so for me at least it was good to have it more balanced.

There are too many mistakes to point out each of them individually but some of the more glaring ones were: When they were in the staff room discussing how to choose the school representative, what Taki was actually saying about judging the performances objectively was that it’s a good learning moment for the band members themselves to judge other people’s performances. It wasn’t necessarily about choosing the best ensemble objectively. That obviously would’ve been better accomplished if it were just the teachers judging. Also, Reina didn’t say she had high expectations for Tuba. It’s actually the exact opposite. She was saying that since Hazuki is a beginner, she expected the Tuba to be a weak link but she didn’t expect Tsubame to be quite so bad on the marimba because apparently she’s usually actually quite good. Etc., etc. The problem is Japanese tends to omit the subject of the sentence, so you have to be really fluent to understand the intent of what’s being said, but it seems whoever translated this isn’t. I don’t think it took away from your viewing experience too much though. Most of the mistakes were just little misinterpretations of the nuances.
