Continuing down Gotham's Jingle Bell Lane...

2013's Batgirl Supergirl Christmas comic was the first one I sort of broke out of the more newspaper strip style mold. This was probably mostly due to me being well into working on the Cleopatra in Space novels at this point and thinking more along those particular layout terms (I had just finished Cleo 1 over the summer).

Looking at this again, it's also clear I must have rushed this one a bit, the art is...well, not my best work. Haha. The perspective of that tree in panel two makes me want to hide my head in a Christmas sweater. But overall, a fun comic! Still happy with the color scheme and that last panel is pure joy.

I don't think I mentioned it before, but these early strips were all penciled and inked traditionally (although I would do some digital shading and clean-up work). It's why I don't have a lot of process images for these first few. All the originals have long since moved on to new ownership.
