Recently Blizzard re-opened the two original wings of the Scarlet Monastery dungeon from Vanilla Warcraft , which vanished in cataclysm. They were made accessible to players who received the "Scarlet Key" -

, a low drop chance from the Headless Horseman event during Hallow's End.

So far as we know the Scarlet Key will be unobtainable until the next Hallow's End so it is likely to rise in value. Buying seasonal items like this is one of the simplest and most effective ways to make gold. But there is a special reason to do it this time.

Very briefly certain players worked out how to dupe the scarlet keys. This opportunity was fixed very quickly-I was literally writing an article for patreons on the subject only hours after Hallow's Eve launched when the exploit was fixed. However a significant number of extra keys were created by the small number of people who managed to take advantage and these have not been deleted by Blizzard. Because supply was temporarily high due to the existence of the dupe the keys are unlikely to ever again be as cheap even when the next Hallow's End comes around. This means that the key will likely rise in value over time, even more so than is normal with seasonal items.

This is a speculative opportunity. It is possible to lose gold if something unpredictable happens-for example Blizzard may allow the key to be farmed outside of Hallow's eve in which case it would decline in value. However if you make enough investments like this you expect to make money in the long run.

MrWhatsInTheCooler .

I believe if you have your own key you will be able to farm the keys out of season unless this is the dupe of which you speak

You get one key the first time you run one of the old instances-nothing I do now gets me more than that. The key isn't there if you run it again (I tried deleting it, putting on ah etc). I'd greatly appreciate any info to the contrary.
