I have been experimenting with using Lag7 to farm pve instances.

Lag7 can be used to extend any speed buff or transformation (eg mount) past its natural lifespan (eg mount indoors). See more in this post if you missed it: https://www.patreon.com/posts/double-duration-8074857

I consider this to be the biggest generic exploit in wow at the moment, there are gamebreaking applications using lag7 for almost everything.

All classes can however benefit significantly when instance farming using lag7.  All instances can be farmed significantly faster-depending greatly on the amount of travel normally involved in the instance and the relative density of mobs.

Using a monk I was able to go the entire length of Shattered Halls in 2 minutes. I was doing this for the 2-4 primal elements that drop from the Shattered Hand Executioner on heroic-these are quite lucrative as they can be sold for inscription illusions in Legion (fire sells for average 457! gold per primal). However this can only be done once a day per toon.

I then experimented with Black Temple.

First, Black Temple is not near any port so it takes too long for most people to get there. However, I discovered a way around this. Once you have levelled your character through the Illidian quests to the port where you get to be Illidian fighting a raid in the Black Temple, you will afterwards be given the option to repeat this quest in your class hall. Whenever you take this quest and alt+f4 to quit the game your character will be transported to the Black Temple graveyard in Outland-this saves a lot of time.

Once at the Black Temple I found a monk could farm the water elementals on the first sewer level in under 1.5 minutes, hitting instance cap in quarter of an hour. I used the "proving grounds" trick where you join the proving grounds and teleport out of the scenario leaving it active, then teleport back, as a means to instantly to return to the start of the instance. (Shadowlands update: The proving grounds trick no longer works, however the same trick can be done with any MOP scenario - find lorewalker Han above Mogu'shan Palace to access to these)

I attained 41 primals of water which sell for an average of 89 gold.

It will take you about 20-30 mins on other toons depending on what abilities they have.

You can increase your earnings significantly by selling other items you will farm such as transmog-I do not do this.

The primals sell quite fast-like Legion rather than legacy items. On only one occassion in multiple auctions did I receive any primals back from the Auction House.  I would however recommend doing this as part of a gold-making portfolio rather than farming primals continuously.

If you want to maximize your profits it would be a good idea to acquire the "transmute primal water to air" on an alchemist. The average price of primal air is over 450 Gold, so you could make over 18000 gold from your 15 minutes farming if you turn all the primals into air. However, this is somewhat impractical because of the one-day cooldown on this transmute.

As I'll be discussing shortly these transmutes can be gamed using multiple class trial characters.

Shadowlands Update: When I wrote this in June 2019 monk roll would extend almost indefinitely from lag which has now been fixed. However ALL speed buffs on all classes still can be extended by 8 seconds which makes this basically just as viable. You can equal or exceed the numbers in this article with a druid (recommended) and certain other classes, especially when optimized for speed.

Primals seem to have increased in value since I wrote this so you should be able to get better numbers.
