This is one of a series of articles I write which encapsulate a number of exploits into one article. These are exploits which are all likely to be of interest to someone but not necessarily of interest to everyone. To avoid spamming patreons with numerous articles I tend to collate these into one post, creating a kind of smorgasbord of exploits.

Lag Buff Manipulation Track - A New Way To Exploit Powerful Buffs

This is something I've been working on hard recently.

The basic method is this:

1. Find a mob, area, or item which produces some kind of aura in a physical area which gives your character a buff with no duration. Usually these buffs will expire when you leave the immediate area.

2. Stand outside the affected area. Induce lag. You can simply pull out your modem cable or alternatively you can use a special purpose program such as:

https://mega.nz/!u5QWmDJL!ifiZLTd3uQDK0lQXGafRUw7Enrl-DQ6OCWxpTEetXIw

(Remember to virus check any program you download. I actually uploaded this one but I did not write it. I have had no obvious issues using this one for years)

3. Move your character into the aura. Because you will be offline no buff will show on your character. Move the character out of the aura and restore your connection-take no longer than 8 seconds or you will go offline permanently and have to re-log.

IF it worked (it is somewhat temperamental) then you should retain the buff on your character.

Examples

Oru'kai's Frost Aura, located on Cracking Plains Frostfire Ridge, Draenor at co-ordinates:

55.6,49.2 can be exploited using the above method. It allows the players to shoot frostbolts at regular intervals regardless of class. This is very powerful for classes which kite as the frostbolts reduce any npc mob movement to a crawl. This buff is limited to the zone so is only useful for leveling. It also has a -25% haste penalty so this is only appropriate for classes which mostly use instant attacks.

Sprite Ward located around the trees in The Blazing Way Timeless Isle, Pandaria reduces fire damage around the trees taken by 50%, and can also be exploited by the lag-based method. This is very useful for tackling rares on the Timeless Isle in timewalking mode (many rares and valuable rare Timeless Isle drops can only be found in timewalking mode).

I have found other examples but they had no obvious application-some are simply debuffs or have had the buff part of the aura nerfed.  There are MANY such auras in the game, which is why I'm releasing this now, as it isn't practical for me to find and check them all.

Name Change Trick

The following exploit was contributed by Patreon Zorek,

Hello again, Archvaldor, i found an exploit that could save people real world money. If you want a name change, delete your character (has to be lvl 10+)

. Make a new character with the same name, then restore your character. The name will be flagged as taken, and you'll be prompted to pick a new name for the restored character.

Fire Mage Talent Switch Trick

The Level 35 and 50 fire mage talents Alexstraza's Fury and Pyroclasm both create temporary buffs. The first increases the damage of the next pyroblast and flamestrike by 35%. The second causes the next non-instant pyroblast to do 240% damage.

Both of these buffs persist through talent or spec changes changes. This can be used to create a significant increase in burst damage temporarily provided the player can generate these buffs before engaging in pvp or pulling a mob in pve. In-world or in battlegrounds this can be done with items such as turnip punching bag, in instances it can be done with items such as worn doll or using quest glitches, eg https://www.patreon.com/posts/22159035

Note the combinations of flame on and Alexstraza's fury, and pyroclasm and meteor are very strong in pvp.

Vicious Saddle Account Trick

Finally, a simple clever trick from patreon Lakaen:

Hot tip, If you have multiple accounts open and get your Vicious Saddle season reward you will be given a saddle for every account you have currently logged in. Even if its a level 1.
