Content

I thought I would publish some random exploits before pre-patch since the focus will be on the new content after that time.

(I have been working hard on beta and ptr plays but it would be unwise for me to publish these till they actually go live, hence the relatively small amount of content published recently)

Ulduar, Ingenious Materials Farm

Patreon Vkrj shared the following ingenious method.

Hey, Archvaldor.  I don’t know if it actually counts as an exploit, but I did some research and couldn’t find anything related to it. I came across a method to farm some Northrend materials, mainly Eternals, Saronite, Cobalt, and Titansteel bars, and I would like to share it with you and your patreon community.  If you go to Ulduar, and have high level Northrend Engineering you can disassemble two of the first 4 bosses, namely Flame Leviathan and XT-002 Deconstructor, and they drop the aforementioned materials. Because of the ID system, you should only be able to do this once a week but if you invite someone and make him the group leader you can effectively reset the instance, and kill these bosses again (you can even use trial accounts) (Archvaldor note: this is an interesting point) - You will receive no normal loot but still be able to disassemble the bosses and farm the materials.   In about 10 runs I got roughly about 10k worth of materials(which sell pretty slow but consistently), and with the upcoming crafted gear changes this might become very profitable once the pre-patch hits.

Haste Trinket Scaling

"Doc" shared this comment on my youtube channel on a recent video:

"Did you know that there are a few trinkets that scale with haste? well forbidden obsidian claw and merektha do. With around 300% haste claw does 1m dmg i think, ofc with 2 min cd but still, i use that as dh in visions to kill last boss in 10 seconds or less."

Doc is talking about these items:

https://www.wowhead.com/item=158367/merekthas-fang?bonus=4777:3210:3210

I was very interested in this because I was not aware that haste could increase the overall damage of these trinkets rather than simply increase burst damage, this leads to some interesting possibilities-perhaps even raid boss one-shot opportunities.

(I asked Doc to expand on this method and he contributed the following)

"Actually a solo with 4 afk carried by a dh has been done lol. Sadly i don't have a full haste% build (or mastery, if you google one punch dh) but it's still very powerful. I came to know about this because this build was being used on raider io and tournaments by dhs, even tank, since we already have fel barrage scaling with haste there is this build with blood of the enemy, merektha and fel barrage that does insane burst damage. For single target we use the claw trinket instead of merektha, for dps checks like high tyrannical boralus or junkyard last boss. In vision basically i just get the 2 haste amp infinite star set that i have on, start the dialogue, get 5 stacks of haste buff, wait for gift of titan cooldown (it has a 1 min internal cooldown that almost always procs after you kill something when it's ready), kill a rat or some critter to proc it, run in, hero>pot>Eyebeam (pre stacked some fury)> Blood+claw>Felbarrage>death sweep and spam damage. Infinite star proc helps but it would be way more powerful with full haste set i guess, infinite can hit the eye or boars, or maybe a mix of other amps who knows. I do like 300-500k  dps and alleria melts quick."

Note that there are many interesting ways to gain temporary extreme amounts of haste listed in the archives here.

Shaman Heroism Trick

The normal and pvp talented versions of heroism do not share a cooldown. If you have some means of switching talents (eg preparation buff or the relevant tomes) you can cast back to back versions of heroism, for 40 seconds worth of increased haste.

Death Knight Endless Remorseless Winter

I discovered that re-logging in a safe area and re-casting remorseless winter allows it and any associated effects such as  gathering storm to persist indefinitely. This allows you to build up the maximum 10 stacks of gathering storm for a 100% damage increase.

This is very similar to the warlock trick I just published on youtube, it is likely the same method can be applied to other pre-existing  or pre-patch abilities or effects.

EDIT/UPDATE

Class Trial Warning

Patreon Eric gave me this valuable warning:

Day of Shadowlands Prepatch. I don't know if anyone has reported this to you yet, but I just started logging into my army of class trials that I use for Anchor Weed CDs (Still have a large amount of herbs to get rid of) and upon log out the first character became locked with the "Apply boost to unlock" Message. It's /played time (I believe) was well less than an hour, nowhere near 3 hours for sure. I don't know if the class trial max /played time was reduced or something.

Players still in 8.3 should take note of the fact any class trials may be locked and take any necessary appropriate action to transfer mats before 9.0 goes live.
