It is the Lunar Festival, and it is time for one of the easiest gold making tricks in the whole game. First, complete the introductory quest starting at any of the lunar festival sites outside a major city, "Lunar Fireworks", if you have not already, which requires you to buy some fireworks and let them off, then get the quest "Valadar Starsong" and use the item provided in the circle of light to take you to Moonglade. Druids can skip this stage and teleport directly to Moonglade using their class spell.

When you reach Valadar Starsong select the option to buy from him and purchase an "Elune's Candle" for 10 silver. We are going to buy as many of these as we think we can sell in a year without any storage problems. These are unique items so you can only hold one at a time but you can mail any number of them to an alt.

The candles shoot a firework at a target hostile or friendly player or npc. As fun items go in wow it is fairly entertaining. They have 88 charges.

If you have engineering and MOLL-E use that to send the candles to an alt. If you do not have engineering walk down the plank you walked up to get to Valadar and turn left, keep going till you reach a building, there is a mail box on the left of the entrance and to the right of a moonwell.

The candles are often put on the auction house for large amounts of gold. The market is no price sensitive and they cannot be obtained late in the year so there is no reason to cut the price. Wowhead actually lists their average price as being almost 7,500 gold, so you will make a lot of gold with these over time. All that said the demand for these items is not huge so they do not sell that quickly.

One thing I have noticed is that these items benefit much more than other items from being advertised and linked to in trade chat, people seem to either not know or forget what the item actually does, and seem much more willing to buy after you've explained it to them.

Additionally, it is important to understand that these are seasonal items, and their price increases in direct proportion to the time elapsed since the holiday. In the short-term there will be candles on the auction house, and many players who want them will still have them.
