I was compiling a "raw" gold farming video, for the purposes of advising people what to do about gold deflation as players struggle to sell some items on the ah.

The best raw gold farm (defined as pure gold and vendor gold dropping from mobs) dungeon I could find was in Draenor, Gorgrond at the Iron Docks. My method is this: run into the dungeon, pull all the mobs near the entrance, kill them and the boss. This yields gold and items worth just over 200G and can be done in just over a minute with practice. This can be done ten times for 2000G or 12000G per hour invested-good for raw gold and probably my youtube audience, but not particularly exciting to a sophisticated audience of patreons looking for higher numbers.

However, every set of 10 runs I ran before lockout that  I tested also yielded at least one component necessary to construct the garrison auction house: https://www.wowhead.com/guides/garrisons/buildings/guide-to-the-garrison-trading-post#auction-house

The garrison auction house is desirable to high-level AH players who greatly value the reduced lag and increased performance from accessing an instanced AH. These components are generally worth over 3K gold, buyers are generally not price sensitive since the garrison ah is most valuable to the richest players in wow.

There is another weird property of this farm and I have never seen any one mention it: Draenor dungeons are not class trial restricted like other legacy dungeons.  This is because wod was current content when class trials were first introduced, and was never updated in subsequent expansions. This means you can park a class trial outside the instance and run it for 10 minutes without having to use any of your main characters.

If you don't tend to farm in short bursts but prefer lengthier sessions bear in mind that instance lockout does not apply cross-realm. You can do this farm indefinitely on different realms, perhaps building up enough for a token. You can even do two runs on a "merged" realm which effectively gives you 20 runs per lockout with no restrictions on moving gold or other items.

Based on conservative assumptions you should be getting at least one AH component per lockout run.  I actually got rather more but it is difficult to tell the true probability because of the variance of the drop.

You can't flood the market with these items: each posting of a given component reduces the value of the total. That said, because of the raw gold it seems to work quite well to do this farm whenever your stock is low and because of the class trial element needs no real set-up. I would recommend posting each component only when there is no competition on the ah or the price posted by a competitor is significantly overpriced.
