The relatively new Seething Shore battleground has some oddities which do not apply in other battlegrounds, most of them are random, but one is very interesting.

Duelling is possible in Seething Shore, both on the ship during the preparatory phase and on the ground after the match has started. 

At first glance this may not seem useful. However, there are certain strategies which colluding players can use to their advantage.  For example, players may:

1. Utilize each other abilities-for example mages of different specializations may spellsteal each other's shield for extra protection. 

2. Build resources by attacking each during the preparatory phase, allowing them to build up powerful attacks when actually engaging the enemy. 

3. Utilize cc mechanics to protect or help other players. For example DH imprison can render a confederate invulnerable, while mage polymorph is quite a powerful heal. 

Whether this is a minor advantage or a gamebreaking exploit depends on the level of co-operation between players. Two players using this strategy in a pre-determined co-ordinated manner are going to be almost impossible to stop. 

For players attempting to use this without confederate it is a good idea to create macro/s to briefly explain what you are doing to whoever you choose to duel with to avoid any confusion.

Shadowlands Update: The current versions of Ashran allow duelling also.
