Summary

Ownedcore and Wowhead posts relating to a unique method of farming faction race reputation using an infinite respawn are examined, and a simple method is presented for grinding reputation is presented. An advanced, new method which yields reputation gain at the fastest possible known rate is explained finally.

The Infinite Respawn Method Explained

Recently I saw this post on ownedcore: https://www.ownedcore.com/forums/world-of-warcraft/world-of-warcraft-guides/659116-exalted-consortium-less-than-few-hours-effortless.html#post3835568.

This post explains how to max out rep with the Burning Crusade faction, The Consortium (the Ethereals, the mobs made out of light and bandages). You simply go to the end of the Mana Tombs 5-man dungeon and tank the last boss Nexus Prince Shaffar, who summons "ethereal apprentices" repeatedly. You can go afk and a multitude of ethereals will be summoned, when you return you can one-shot them for fast rep gain.

Crucially this can be done at the same time as grinding rep for a racial reputation using a tabard from that race's quartermaster (eg Ironforge, Stormwind, Gnomeregan). This should allow the player to get each of their respective faction's race reputations up to Exalted mostly afk over time.

Interesting as this post is the method is quite slow: each ethereal apprentice takes 14 seconds to spawn. It also turns out this information has been on Wowhead for six years, so the method is not new.

I believed I could find a better method. I tried many dungeons but by far the best opportunity is located in the Shadow Labyrinth 5-man dungeon. At the end of this dungeon are mobs known as "cabal summoners". These mobs themselves repeatedly summon two other mobs "cabal acolyte" and cabal deathsworn".

Simple Technique

A simple method to grind rep is this:

1. Kill all the trash in the boss room apart from the three cabal summoners. They will then spawn adds at the rate of roughly one per two and a half seconds.

2. Go afk, and when you return one-shot all the mobs. I find running away from the mobs causes the summoned mobs (that you want to kill) to separate from the cabal summoners (who you want alive).

3. Go to 1.

Trying this with the Tushui Pandaren tabard I got 5 rep per mob, this was 50% faster than the Mana Tombs method.

(Although I spent the best part of ten hours developing this method, it turns out, that it, also, was already explained on wowhead a year or so back, although I doubt many people read the article on lower city rep farming nowadays. The following refinement however, is I believe totally unique).

Advanced Method

To really maximize the reputation gain from this method however,  use the following technique:

1. When you enter the final room with the boss stop and take a look at what's going on. You will notice there are a number of npc's attacking the boss "Murmur".

2. If you observe for a few minutes you'll notice some npc's on the left-hand and right-hand side of the room. They will attack the boss, the boss himself will kill them with a ranged attack-this varies between immediately after they have spawned to a minute or so. These mobs are cabal spellbinders and cabal summoners.

3. Move forward. Aggro the npc's in front of you but do not harm them, and Aggro the "spawned" summoner nearest to you but do not damage them. Ignore or kill cabal spellbinders.

4. Move up the room aggroing each pack of trash and each cabal summoner at each stage. Note this gets progressively more awkard as summoned mobs will repeatedly stun you.

5. By the time you have reached the boss the summoned mobs will be spawning at the rate of more than one per second.

6. Go AFK. When you return, one-shot the mobs. As before, run away from the mobs using any speed or movement abilities you have and try to separate the summoned from summoning mobs.

This is the fastest I have ever seen mobs created in warcraft. This allows for a very fast rep grind-as fast as running some dungeons without instance lockout or active involvement in most of the process.

Note the advanced method is very fast but is not trivial to pull off.

Shadow Labyrinth also has some interesting xp farming and possibly gold farming opportunites which I'll be discussing in separate posts.
