(This title is deliberately vague since I don't want to tip people off outside the forum as to the glitch, my apologies for any confusion).

This exploit is the second most lucrative gold making exploit I've encountered, and in the hands of an expert, the most lucrative period. It allows you to almost instantly level a pet from 1 to 25, increasing its value significantly, essentially "duping" max-level pets.

The exploit concerns this item http://www.wowhead.com/item=98114/pet-treat. You feed the treat to your pet and get a buff of 50% on pet experience from pet battles. Confusingly, while you have to target a pet the buff actually appears on your own character and applies to any pet you battle with for an hour.

If you stack pet treats on top of each other in your inventory and apply a second treat before the first buff has expired you will just refresh the buff back up to its one hour limit. That is what is supposed to happen.

If, however, you put the pet treat in separate slots in your bags, you can stack multiple buffs of the pet treats when you use them. Stack enough buffs and you can theoretically instantly level a pet to 25 in one battle.

The average difference between a random level 1 pet and a 25 pet is around 3000 gold, so with a hypothetical maximum of one levelled pet a minute (difficult but possible) you could be looking at 180K an hour. For various reasons that is a bit unreallistic but 80K is certainly quite doable for the motivated and disciplined intellect.

There are a few issues with this exploit, it will take some effort to achieve the full potential.

1) You need a lot of pet charms to buy the pet treats and stack them in the first place. Pet charms can only really be acquired efficiently by pet battling world quests-if you have alts this shouldn't be too difficult, if you only have a main and your boost it will be much harder (consider levelling a dh, that will help, it only takes 40 minutes).

Despite the popular prejudices about the subject in the wow community, pet battles are not actually that easy at max level. Happily there is an excellent website which gives perfect strategy for each fight:  https://www.wow-petguide.com/?m=Home. The strategies sometimes require expensive pets: you can usually wing-it with less powerful but similar pets. Alts are such an advantage here because once you have beaten a given world quest you can repeat the process on the other character/s.

2) Once you have acquired the pet treats and stacked them you have an hour to maximize the level of as many pets as possible. There is no obvious way to do this efficiently. Grinding wild pets is the easiest way to do this: wild pets are very easy to kill even when you are levelling one of your three pets. However, it isn't particulary efficient to move around trying to find wild pets to fight.

Alternatively you could try one of the relatively static pet battles you could redo such as the one offered in the garrison menagerie. However, I wouldn't attempt this without some experience or following the xu-fu guides strictly, these aren't usually straightforward and are not very fast. Also, depending on how much you have distorted the xp you are getting, you might actually be getting more xp than you need from these more difficult repeatable battles.

3) Actually selling all the pets is not trivial. Though, I should add, it is nothing like as hard as trying to sell transmog. If you want to buy tokens or other cross-realm items then this is substantially easier since pets themselves are cross-realm items and can be sold on high pop realms even if you are on a low pop realm, by either a level 1 character or a class trial if you prefer.

If you are committed to selling the pets on your own realm, and it is one with a low-population, you may struggle to do so in a short time-frame and get the full gold per hour value of this exploit I mentioned in the title. On the other hand a skilled trader can probably do much better than I suggested by exploiting inefficiencies in the market-indeed there are people who make a good income simply by buying underpriced pets and selling them on other realms over the odds.

Be aware also that Squirt (a high-xp garrison menagerie opponent) is coming on the 10th of this month, and pet battle bonus week begins the day after. The latter is especially important as it gives triple bonus xp-dramatically reducing the number of treats required to level a pet up instantly.
