Note: I use the term "duping" in the title because that's literally an accurate description of the following technique, however it will not provide a unlimited stream of gold as some of the more famous historical dupes have done. Most dupes in fact have more modest effects, though this one is quite useful nonetheless.

The item "<name of herb> seed" is a random drop from regular herbalism. The seed can be planted in fertile soil (targetable patches of soil near rivers and lakes). It yields some random amount of the designated herb, some amount of yseraline seeds and possibly bloods of sargeras. 

This item is designed to encourage social play: players can form groups and each take from the same seed. 

This aspect can be exploited. I did the following:

1) Formed a custom group using group finder between two different characters (priest and monk) on the same account on the same realm. 

2) Flew them both to a seed location in Val'sharah.

3) I loaded up a second client, went into windowed mode, minimized graphics and screen resolution. This is to minimize load screen time. 

4) I planted an aethril seed, which takes 5 seconds to grow. I then clicked on the target icon (I did not actually take the items as I know from experience they will be sent to my mailboz if I did not, and clicking wastes time).  

5) I then speedily logged in on my monk. I had time to loot the seed before it expired. 

So, essentially I got twice the value of the seed.  You may be able to do it with three characters with practice, though I imagine that would be the practical maximum.

The implications that can be drawn from this:

1) You can significantly increase the amount of herbs and therefore gold you can get with the above method, when you encounter seeds in the wild through regular herbalism.

2) It may be worth buying out underpriced seeds just to do this. 

3) You can use class trial characters if you have no secondary herbalist toon. 

4) Multi-boxers can in theory make a lot of money simply buying up all the seeds on the AH and looting the seeds up to nine times (the maximum). The herbs and bloods generated would generally exceed the value of the seed on the AH.
