Eva's heart raced with panic as she realized Gage was nowhere to be found in the mansion. In the whirlwind of her distress, she had momentarily forgotten to keep an eye on him. Now, as she scoured the premises, both inside and out, there was no sign of him.

The servants confirmed that Gage hadn't even stepped foot in the mansion. This revelation gnawed at her insides, escalating her fear. But then, like a ray of light piercing through the dark clouds of her mind, hope and faith just sparked within her. She believed that Gage hadn't abandoned them; he must have set out on his own to find their daughter. This belief instantly calmed the chaos in her heart. With Gage by her side, she believes that everything will be fine. He would find Gaia. He would bring her back safely. She was certain of that! She knew he would leave no stone unturned to bring their daughter back safely.

The disappearance of their daughter was not a normal case. The mansion, with its vigilant guards and unblinking CCTV cameras, had somehow failed to capture any trace of the abductor. The mystery deepened as Eva learned that the cameras had recorded nothing—something that sent shivers down her spine.

This was not a random kidnapping. Gaia had been targeted before, which had prompted Eva and George to envelop Gaia in a cocoon of stringent security measures. But now, with this latest incident defying explanation, Eva felt that there was definitely something more sinister at play, something far from ordinary.

The thought that forces beyond the natural might be at play in Gaia's disappearance made her heart shudder. But she braved herself and willed herself to keep believing that no matter who it might be that abducted her baby, Gigi would be fine. Because she knew that if anyone could protect their daughter from unseen and abnormal dangers, it was Gaia's father, Gage.

Determined not to succumb to helplessness, Eva continued to participate actively in the search for Gaia, coordinating with the staff and overseeing the efforts to scour every corner of the estate and even the entire city.

Several hours into the search, Hunter arrived, and Eva promptly shared the unexpected news with him: Gage was back.

The afternoon sky that was once clear now brooded with ominous clouds, unleashing a torrent of heavy rain. Each drop seemed to echo the growing tension, with the harsh, cold wind adding to the increasingly eerie atmosphere. It was only early afternoon, yet the world appeared as if cloaked in the dimness of twilight.

'Gage’ materialized in an empty children's park on the city's western edge. His search had drawn him here.

Standing in the middle of the deserted swings and slides, his presence was like a sharp contrast to the playful innocence of the park. His keen and discerning eyes scanned the surroundings with dangerous acuity.

His attention abruptly focused on a slide, particularly its large tunnel. Approaching slowly, Gage squatted down at the entrance. There, curled into a small, trembling ball, was a little girl, hugging her feet to her chest in an attempt to ward off the cold.

The sight of her in such a vulnerable state triggered a fierce and dark surge of emotions within him. A primal urge to torture to death those who had caused her this fear and coldness rose within him, his bloodlust so intense that it startled even himself.

He could tell she wasn't physically harmed; the absence of blood's scent was a small relief. Yet, the sheer fact that her frightened and chilled appearance could evoke such an extreme response in him was unexpected. Since when had he begun to care so intensely for anyone other than Eva? This realization struck him deeply, underscoring the unexpectedly strong impact the little girl, Eva's daughter, had on him.

It was unbelievable, but it was clear that his connection to Eva had extended to her daughter!

He inhaled deeply, striving to calm the storm of emotions raging within him. He was acutely aware of the need to suppress his darker, more violent instincts, especially in the presence of this child.

"Little girl..." he called out gently, breaking the silence in an effort to draw her attention.

At the sound of his voice, she stirred, slowly lifting her head. Her eyes, a striking shade of blue, met his. They were so identical to Eva's, except for the dark hue of her hair. Had it been fiery red like Eva's, he would have sworn she was the spitting image of Eva as a child.

The world seemed to pause, a moment suspended in time, as the little girl's large eyes blinked open, gazing up at him with an innocence that pierced through the veneer of his usually heartless demeanor.

He found himself momentarily lost. Now that he had found her, he didn't know what to do to not scare her. If he simply grabs her, she might cry. He needs to say something... something that will make her go to him. But then he remembered those times when he had spoken to children in the past and the fact that all of them cried just hearing his voice. He won't be able to handle a crying child... He hated the sound of their cries. So what the hell should he do?

While he was in a dilemma, the little girl's voice broke the silence: "Da... daddy?"
