Okay, so I cannot and will not stop listening to the new Protomartyr album. This woman is not in the band, but she’s the first person the camera follows in the “A Private Understanding” video. It takes place in the last indoor establishment in America to allow smoking, and features an old man lip-syncing the song. It’s strangely appropriate for him to mouth the lyrics, which start by excusing the speaker (“not by my own hands/voice”) then proceed to ramble into Greek philosophy, the water in Flint, Michigan, and Elvis Presley having a vision.
