I always disliked the first five episodes of season 2 because for some reason, until I watched the show proper sometime early high school, my only exposure to this show were the random occurrences I saw it as a kid when I was like 6-7 (no where near enough for me to understand the entire story) and a random DVD I had of season 2, but only the first five episodes. I watched those 5 episodes probably 20+ times because of how awesome bending is, but rewatching it with someone for the first time makes these episode’s bearable. I despise Avatar Day (even though I appreciate it now for the history) even more than the people who dislike The Great Divide. The rest of the episodes are good, I just remember that once I managed to watch the show in its entirety, I was not looking forward to the beginning of season 2. With that said, season 2 is probably more important than season 3 as far as history and philosophy are presented. It tells us a lot more about the world than season 3, because the third season has a bunch of episodes dedicated to the current plot, instead of learning about the history of the world or why the world functions the way it does. That isn’t to say there isn’t great stuff to be learned in season 3, or that it drops in quality at any point, just that season 2 gives the viewer everything they wanted from season 1, and then some more.
