A fantastic disruption to the show. By fantastic I mean rage inducing and kind of terrifying. Once again I found it incredibly difficult to not turn this show into a marathon. Great episode, but also I think the most angry this show has made me. 10/10

I'm surprised it didn't get a copyright claim, but Early Access to the youtube edit is also available: https://youtu.be/45kfkIwVRFU

This is the first "Thanks, I hate it!" episode of BSG, for me, and seems to be the same for you - great episode, firing on all cylinders, super-engaging, and then you find out what happened to the Cylon on Pegasus, and then you see the same thing happen to our Sharon on Galactica--and, as Ryan says, in the extended version it's made clear to viewers that Chief and Helo were "too late" (quotes because sexual assault and sexual trauma is a spectrum) whereas in the aired episode it is left ambiguous. I'm not sure where I come down on the "should they have left those confirmation shots out or was it right to include them in the extended episode" argument. As a sexual-assault survivor, my reaction to that scene changes on each viewing depending on a bunch of different factors. And *then* you get that ending. BTW your "No!" when the screen went to black sounded exactly like a little kid saying "Why?!" when they're told they have to go to bed and it made me laugh so loud I scared the cats. Oh, also, you think waiting a week is gonna be hard? This episode aired in September of 2005 and the next episode aired in January of 2006! Just a massive, massive cliffhanger in the best way. There was a lot of screaming among the fans, both online and in person. It's such a shame the Television Without Pity website is no more -- their episode recaps and the ensuing discussion threads were absolutely the center of my BSG fandom during its run. But I *can* recommend their recap archives at the Wayback Machine to you - the episode recaps are guaranteed spoiler-free, because those recaps went up just a day or two after the episodes aired. (Avoid the forums.) Man, they were so good and often hilarious. I miss that site so much. Cannot wait for you to get to the next... few episodes.

Aaaaaand it wouldn't be Battlestar Galactica without Edward James Olmos being Edward James Olmos, James Callis being James Callis, and Mary McDonnell getting the giggles - During the scene where Cain and Adama meet for the first time on the hangar deck, there were so many new people meeting the cast and each other for the first time and just chatting away that EJO thought that they were on break and wandered off. The director didn't realize that had happened and he called action, and the shot was Michelle Forbes' close-up shot for the scene, so she did what any professional actor would do in a close-up: she hit her mark even though the actor playing opposite her wasn't there. James Callis *immediately* stepped over and did The James Callis Trademarked Adama Impression, which is apparently absolutely dead on, and played the scene with Forbes (while off-camera). They *almost* made it through the entire scene before Mary McDonnell got the giggles (because James Callis seemed determined to make everyone lose it as often as possible) and then everyone else was laughing because that's what happens when Mary McDonnell starts giggling. The director was yelling about people laughing during the scene until he realized that EJO was just... not there.

NO! It was a legit mid season break that lasted as long as a full season break. 😭 Glad I'm able to keep going right away.

haha that's so amazing. Is there footage? I love that even with Callis stepping in the director didn't notice right away. Perfection.

Oh man, I don't know if there's footage. It's just one of the many many stories of Mary corpsing on set that went around while it was airing. I will look around!
