Completely terrifying! A perfect example of the powerful atmosphere that music and cinematography can create! The story itself was interesting, but the reason this film strikes fear is mostly the incredible sound design and performances.

We saw the preview for The Shining in the theater, and it really looked scary. On the way out of the theater we passed the bookstore that had a display for Stephen King's book, The Shining. I thought, hey I'll read the book it can't be that scary. Boy was I wrong! We did eventually see the movie and it was fantastic. The book got me reading more Stephen King, and I have quite the library now.
