@Sam Ninegar I'm not sure where your comment went. Sam: "During Del's execution, John was taking some of the pain away from Del, that's why he had such a visceral reaction during that sequence. Hard to watch for sure." Reply: That makes a lot of sense, it was clear he was taking on the pain and felt it, but I love the idea that he was taking some of the pain from Del.

I think what you said at the end is exactly right. The way things draw out the closer you get to the end. A little awkward to talk about, but this film always hits me personally and means a lot, because I've experienced near death multiple times, and death once..It can be the longest and most taunting thing to go through. The last lines while Paul is in bed hit that personal note and absolutely nail it.
