Definitely different from the book but I did really like anabeth getting through to Hepheastus, since he is definitely the only God who would I think be actually moved by that argument since he is so familiar with the toxicity of the gods. I think the chair was there to add in that myth but thematically it really works for me as a demonstration of Hepheastus' role in this cycle of cruelty, his mother never loved him so he believed this display of power was the way love worked, and it takes anabeths wisdom to make him see what non toxic love and friendship can look like.

The book version is fun and all but i really don't think it wouldve worked in the context of what's happening in this episode and overall message of the entire show which ofc is the message of the entire book series as well slowly developing with the details that they r showing and the situationss that they r in and going through. Also i dont remember Grover having much to do during the whole tunnel of love sequence so im glad they gave him his own well written scene. Idk I mean after all book writing is one thing and script writing for a show ofc is another and they need to plan each thing really well for everything to be well connected and shown. Even the words they repeat is well thought out. For example how Ares used the phrase of "pushing down the stairs" when he was talking about the olympians at the diner and how the same phrase was used by Percy when he chose Annabeth. It just gives more meaning and perspective as the show goes on. Each episode is getting better and better honestly. I just cant wait to see the last three episodes.
