W&H makes it so different form the rest it's hard for me to even put it in the rankings with them. It's almost like a one season spinoff.

I don't like that they cheapened Spike's sacrifice in the Buffy finale just to try and save Angel from a ratings slump.

James Marsters as Spike was brought on the show to help the ratings, he talked in an interview that he felt bad that they replaced Charisma but she told him it wasn’t because of him

Ooo I'm so excited for your thoughts on this season! Like someone else said, I was totally spoiled that Spike was coming back but I still cried so hard when he died in Chosen. lol Spike definitely takes space from the other characters but I love his relationship dynamics with Angel this season.

They will give Cordelia the respect she deserves . It's the last season . A lot of story's will end here this season. Enjoy the ride . Spike is gonna give angel a shake up .and a run for his money . This a season to have fun too.

Honestly, this is the only season of Angel I genuinely like. There are some GREAT episodes this season that I'm really looking forward to.

To me bringing spike back sucked.i think him realising buffy didn’t love him and becoming a hero, because it was the right thing to do was the end of a great story arc, bringing him back cheapened it. Which is why I ignore this season. I have a few episodes of buffy to watch then I shalll end our patreon experience, thank you for the entertainment, hopefully in the future I will be back

I liked the first two for sure but this is by far the best season of Angel.

Eve was a little cringe with the exposition reminding everyone about Connor and the gang not knowing who he is, but I guess it had to be done just in case. Harmony reveal was great. "blondie bear?" was such a good final line. but i think the best line was "initial here regarding your immortal soul" LOL

This season reminds me a bit of the unevenness of Buffy season 3, with solid - but not great - episodes at the start, but a very strong finish and gems in between. This episode, for instance, I tend to skip past the whole bomb-child storyline in the middle, and tune back in for the end when Gunn walks into the courtroom

I don't think anyones commented yet, but Alexis Denisof had a case of Bell's Palsy this ep, which is why half of Wesley's face looks a bit slack

One part that I found funny was with Wes and Gunn talking about it taking a little while to get used to running things. Move the camera over to Lorne, who's already in his element.

I really love season 5 of Angel. I do feel like the show was kind of relentlessly depressing in a lot of seasons 3 and 4. And moving it into this new setting at wolfram and hart is just what the show needed. The fish out of water aspect of the team working at W&H is really fun and totally different. And the Spike and Angel Frenemy aspect is hilarious. Now that both Buffy and Firefly are done Joss turned all of his attention to this season of Angel and could concentrate on just this. As for the amulet that spike wore in the Buffy finale, it came from Wolfram and Hart originally so I don’t think it’s any surprise that it made its way back there. I don’t think Spike returning here takes away from his sacrifice in the Buffy finale at all. Spike still sacrificed himself regardless if he was able to come back. Similar to how Buffy being brought back in season 6 doesn’t take away from her sacrifice in The Gift. It’s still just as powerful.

I feel like I’m general the fans seem to not like Eve but I kind of like her. She’s not a favorite of mine but I don’t dislike the character or the actress at all

Obligatory episode trivia: The wonderful 3 1/2 minute long shot near the start took 27 takes apparently. Alexis Denisof was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy just before they started filming season 5. You'll notice he's mostly shot looking at his right hand side. (This I'm sure has already been mentioned multiple times in the comments) Fred putting up that poster is sort of a political statement -they were being boycotted at the time for being anti-Bush/his wars/international politics etc. Whether intentional commentary or just coincidence -Lorne's had a nose job! It's different compared to previous seasons.

Yes, but there was particular emphasis on her putting it up in her new office. You can interpret it just as a character thing, but at the time they were filming it was a huge pop culture thing (them being banned, boycotted etc.) so it's hard to imagine they wouldn't be aware of it. ETA- I weirdly can't find reference to it at all before this episode ?

Season 5 were my favorite seasons for both Angel and Buffy. I'm excited to rewatch along with you!

Alexis Denisof's Bell's Palsy apparently only affected him for a short while at the beginning of the season, as latter shots show him from all angles (or am I wrong?)
