I'd completely forgotten about that deleted scene, that was hilarious.

Thanks Alley! While I’m not as high on season three as you are - my rankings are 2, 1, 3, though they’re all pretty close since none, in my opinion, have managed to string together a strong beginning, middle, *and* end. Season one has the strongest ending so far so that tips the scales in its favor over three for me - I find your enjoyment of the show quite infectious. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, even the ones I disagree with. I didn't submit any questions so I'll take some of the blame, but I was slightly surprised about the lack of questions regarding Darla and her final arc (RIP) and Lorne, how he was utilized (or not) this season and whether we might ever see him again.

Tough but fair critique of the season finale. Not a favorite of mine. Wesley's character arc is my favorite of the entire Buffyverse.

Luke

I had never seen or heard about that deleted scene!

Oxmustube

I thought I had seen everything about Angel...guess I was wrong!

Holts even is mentioned in previous seasons

I think the finale works a lot better in the context of the original airing, where the season took up the better part of a year, and season 4 was months away. What might come across as just disappointing storytelling to a modern reactor is more of a heartbreaking gut punch to someone who's waited 8 months for Angel and Cordy to confess their feelings only to see everything fall apart in the last 5 minutes, and has to wait another 3 months to see how the *many* cliffhangers are resolved (Angel in the ocean, Cordy in the heavens, Connor hating Angel, Lilah pulling Wesley toward the dark side). Everything is perfectly set up to finally work out well for once, only for it to all fall apart. And I think the lack of long-term suspense and anticipation takes a bit away from that.

Oh, I don't think I've ever seen that deleted scene before. Was it on the DVD's? Maybe it's just been too long since I watched the extras. At any rate, neat.

Robin Davies

The deleted scene was a bit weird. If it's Wesley's fantasy why would he envisage himself as an awful dancer? (Maybe it reflects his low self-confidence!)

I think it's that Amy Acker CAN do ballet while Alexis Denisof CANNOT. So I guess it was better to have him try to look bad than try to look good and fail.

Mitch M

I think it reflects the fact that he thinks Fred is completely out of his league--even in his fantasies, she's graceful and lovely and perfect and he's--not.
