This is a concept I've had in mind for a while; Amalgam Pokemon. Created with unethical and strange science, all amalgams are related to another Pokemon, but have superior stats and exactly one type. A unique held item lets them choose a secondary type on the fly, and they all have a unique move that deals damage based on that type.
