NEW PERK: WAR Roster Builder 2.1 Update (Patreon)

Excited to roll this out. The WAR Roster Builder has gotten a major update which should make it easier to use and a lot more accurate.

Changes include:

• Using the newly updated xWAR and Goalie WAR model from Evolving-Hockey
• Roster updates on the depth charts
• Making it so that the (2008-2020) Roster drop-down will only include players from the season you've selected
• A new 2020-21 Standings Projections sheet that is live and responsive to changes made.

The first one is the biggest. It means that defenceman and goalie WAR estimates are now more in line with forwards, which leads to much more realistic standings projections than before. The roster updates are obviously a necessary update. The drop-down change to the 2008-2020 sheet is a subtle one but should make it much more user-friendly.

As always, the Builder can be used using the subscriber link but you can also select File > Make a Copy to have your own copy to edit more freely as you wish. That includes being able to access the "Line Ref" sheet and change teams' pre-set depth charts. 

This will be the last big update before Christmas but big things are coming at the beginning of 2021. You won't want to miss them.
