Late Season Changes (Patreon)

As I'm finally nearing the end of this Disney nightmare, I've been re-evaluating my plans for this season and beyond. This project has been duh-raining and I really wanted to make sure what follows it is something that will inspire and recharge me creatively. In my very first post on Patreon, which you can read here , I outlined the arc of this current season of videos. I've made some new plans, so I thought I'd give y'all an update on what's next.
This current season is still the Discovery season, and originally I planned to tackle Kingdom Hearts immediately after wrapping up the Disney Interactive videos. But I need a break. I'm pretty Disney'd out. I still want to cover Kingdom Hearts, but it's a big undertaking, two long games to record and more substantive content than I've covered up til now. It'll take some serious brain power and I'm not sure I'm in that place right now. So between the two Disney videos, I'm considering doing something a little lighter and hopefully easier to cover. The thing about "fun, easy" videos though is I always get way carried away and make them into ridiculous projects but hey, the goal is to get creative again and that's exactly what I'm hoping for.
I have a few options for what to cover here. Discovery is all about those games I played way back when after all, so I have a handful of old games I know pretty well that I can probably find lots to say about. Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy is one I actually reviewed eons ago that I could take another crack at, or Hamtaro: Ham Hams Unite is another I've always wanted to make a video about. Or I have a jillion more terrible Rugrats games I could talk about. Whatever I cover here will probably not add a ton to the overarching discussion of "gateway" or discovery games, but hey sometimes when there's too much to think about it's good to give your brain a break and just have fun.
Then Kingdom Hearts, the big project, will close out the season. I expect this one to take a while to make but hopefully I'll have something great to show for it.
Originally you may recall, I had the Loopy planned as the season finale. I thought about it a little more and decided instead that maybe season 2 would be focused on Japanese games, since I have a good handful worth covering and my live-in translator- I mean, boyfriend, is back. I'm not sure what the level of interest is for that sort of thing, since I know videos about games you've probably never played are not everyone's cup of tea, but I figured a few episodes about some of the Japan-only games I have couldn't hurt, with the Loopy to wrap things up.
Tenatively, some games I'm thinking about covering are:
-Cardcaptor Sakura: Tomoyo no Video Daisakusen
This is a Dreamcast game that plays like sort of a variation of Pokemon Snap. I've shown footage of this in a couple videos before and it always generates at least one "whaaat there's a Cardcaptor Sakura game?" so I've been wanting to cover it for a while. It's a weird little game and super short so it'd probably make for an entertaining video.
-The Loopy Console
As previously discussed, this is console-for-girls I picked up at PRGE. It's kind of in my wheelhouse. A rare obscure console that I'd like to share with the world.
-Tamagotchi
I picked up this weird looking super tall blue GameBoy game in Japan last month. The cart alone is funky looking enough to make me interested in it. The game itself is probably just a virtual pet game, but maybe would be interesting anyway.
-Sailor Moon
There are a good kagillion Sailor Moon games out there, most of them are beat-em-ups and a majority of them are actually pretty good. There's an RPG floating around with a translation patch that is really easy to find too. I think I'd focus mostly on the GameBoy one, since the difficulties on that one are labeled "Boy" and "Girl" with "Boy" being hard mode. Or if there's not enough material in that one game I can just do a quick series overview.
I haven't done too much research into all the region exclusives yet, so maybe I'll find some more weird Japanese games to track down and cover, but these are the ones off the top of my head that might make for interesting content. Let me know what you think of the idea, or if you'd rather I stick to stuff you've likely played yourself. I always make it a goal to introduce the game in a way that makes the viewer feel like they've played it too by the end of the video. Any feedback would be great!
That's about it for this week's post, but I'll be back soon with probably a video? God I hope so.
