Just for you Patrons, here's an explanation of how I configured my Linksys E1000 Wireless N-Router to create a hotspot from my own home network.

Step 1: Connect your Linksys E1000 to your modem/router that you get your home network internet from with an Ethernet cable. One end goes into the port on the Linksys E1000 that is labeled "Internet." The other end goes into the port on your main router that is labeled "LAN 1". Both of these devices also need to be plugged into power but I assume you already know that.

Step 2: On a windows desktop, disconnect from your home network using the little network icon on the task bar in the bottom right. Connect to the new network created by your router called "Cisco"

Step 3: Once connected, there is a link called "Properties." Click on it to open the settings for your Linksys router.

Scroll down to find the IP settings.

 Click "Edit."

Set the preferred DNS to 178.62.43.212 and the alternate DNS to 0.0.0.0 once you have set the IP settings to manual. Here I have IPv4 toggled on and 1Pv6 toggled off but I do not know what that means. If any of these fields are already populated with different info, delete that info or change it to match what you see here. Click save.

Step 4: Turn on your DS and open HGSS or DPPt. On the main menu (where you select Continue, New Game, Mystery Gift, etc), select Wi-Fi settings.

Step 5:

Create a new connection and choose your Cisco network. Now set your connection settings to the following:

Make sure these settings match exactly, including setting Auto-obtain DNS to no and the Primary DNS to 178.62.43.212. Test your connection, and add your friends friend codes in your Pal Pad, and then get into the Wi-Fi Club downstairs at any Pokemon Center to play.

NOTES:

First, if you do all this and run into any unexpected problems, or if your settings options don't look like this, or if you're using a different OS, unfortunately I can't help you since I barely understand how any of this works myself. All I know is these are my settings and I CAN get online with no issues this way.

Second, if you add your friends friend codes and get online and don't see them in the Wi-Fi Club room, don't panic! Even back in the day when WiFi was new it was like this. You may need to exit and re-enter the WiFi room many times before you both see each other. If at any point there's any issue with communication, always try exiting and reentering the WiFi room.

This guide is to help my Patrons get online for our HGSS simultaneous playthroughs.
