I think when I first was watching these early episodes I think the almost childish happy nature of it lent itself really well to the contrast of death as you said. I can see the age of the main characters turning people off when browsing what to watch but I think that is it's charm and strength in a way There are different OPs but it's always the same song I think. I think there is maybe one per arc
