Lake Laogai!

Such a good episode to end on and I'm not sure why but these 3 episodes have made me fall in love even more with this show. Definitely one of the best shows of all time at this point

I'm also rewatching some episodes in my spare time which makes me love this even more and I'm enjoying editing the episodes too :)

ALSO just got some avatar shirts delivered which are so cool, can't wait to show you next week :)

I think these episodes really elevate the show and make viewers realize how much they care for and connect with these characters. Each character is so nuanced and relatable (even for adults like us) and I think that helps make this show timeless. Agreed this is one of the best shows of all time! :) great reactions so far! Can’t wait to watch these!

I think I agree with the notion of it might be better to stretch out ATLA rather than binge it, though obviously everyone likes things differently. I think because the overarching plot is fairly weakly attached to most episodes, that it is mostly mini-stories relating to the characters. Often with more character focussed shows it has more of an impact if you take your time with it and things linger a bit more. It definitely has a unique feel to it, I think because it was catering to kids it has that childlike innocence to it whilst there is plenty of other stuff as adults you can look at relating to the world or ourselves. Glad to see Appa finally back and whooping ass! You have gone on a shirt buying spree clearly 😂 Your new place is going to need a lot of clothes space in a year or two 🤣

"I thought he was going to put him out of his misery! Sorry Jet 🏹" It's funny you mentioned that because that was in the original storyline for this episode! Longshot was supposed to mercy kill Jet to end his misery but they ultimately decided against it as it is still a 'kids show'/Nickelodeon! But who knows, he still could've done it off screen, we'll never know! This show really was ahead of its time. The stories that are depicted are extremely relatable to all ages and even to some real life current events at times - the refugees that had to escape to Ba Sing Se due to the war caused by Fire Nation, the Pentapox episode that looked like a pandemic/sickness was spreading, stories of loss and overcoming adversity, being confused about what's right/wrong/good/evil and trying to find one's destiny and place in the world, and many more to come! If you thought Book 2 was good, oh boy...hold on to your Sky Bison saddle!

I'm a weirdo, I guess, I love introducing people to good shows, cartoons, anime, horror movies{especially 80s-mid 90s}, fantasy movies & books, etc. I think that's why I've gotten into watching YT First Watches. I'm really glad you're enjoying the show b/c it is definitely a great one and it's fun seeing your reaction to it in the same way I do with friends. P.S. Don't be stingy Seb, that Aang outfit would only show off your shoulder, delt, and the top of that chesticle... it's not so much, lol, j/k.

interestingly, Long Fang the bad guy who brainwashed Jet/Holding Appa prisoner is voiced by Clancy Brown. he is in a bunch of animated stuff like he voices Mr. Krabbs on Spongebob. also plays in Shawshank Redemption.

I'm convinced Sokka was already putting the brainwashing concept together in his head after their experiences with both Joo Dees. Jet was just the final confirmation.

"Fun" fact: Laogai means "reform through labor" in Mandarin Chinese. Laogai camps were replaced by prisons in the 1990s, but China's penal system still requires prisoners to reform through education and labor.
