Booo to YouTube comment spoilers! Glad your predictions like that haven't been going on YouTube as you would have to avoid those comments like the plague 😂 I quite enjoyed these OVA episodes, better than the others for me. Seems like the Levi backstory ones are pretty popular but I felt like they were a bit empty, particularly with having seen stuff from the rest of the show. Was actually some drip fed stuff in this as well, even if all of these OVAs are entirely optional, hence why I hadn't seen them yet 😂 I used to drink limeade 😂 never really see it around anymore, not that I look that much at the soft drinks aisle anymore. Cigarettes seeming cool is an interesting one. It's ultimately probably just from the marketing done way back that has lasted until now. I feel like there isn't really anything that inherently cool about it. People make fun of vaping (or did) so not really the smoke aspect of it. Just seems like some things get a connection through marketing that sticks and becomes almost cultural. Like certain things are masculine or feminine for like no reason. Why is beer masculine and cocktails feminine, so ridiculous when you think about it.

Sean Carroll

Because over the course of history beer was drank typically by men while woman don’t like it, then you have women loving cocktails because they prefer sweet drinks, men never really drank cocktails because it was deemed a female drink due to the overwhelming amount of women that drink them. It’s not that hard to understand why some things are viewed as masculine and others feminine.

You missed the point I was trying to make with that even though your comment backs what I was saying. A lot of things we perceive in our current time and culture as masculine or feminine are mostly down to cultural norms and/or advertising influencing it. In another universe it could just as easily have been cocktails for men and beer for women. In the same sense that pink is considered a super feminine colour these days but go back 100+ years or so and pink was being marketed for baby boys. Even if you place a level of biological determinism onto things, it's still way too overexaggerated the way we often label and segregate ourselves based on silly things like what we drink

Just wanted to say Seb, I've seen some less than pleasant comments on the other AoT videos towards the end of S2 and wanted to remind you that we love you and not to let those kinds of people get to you <3 I will admit it is frustrating to see you say things like "nothing's happening" when the show is literally feeding you the clues in the episode you're watching, but I also understand that when I first watched S2, I didn't get what was going on either and didn't have to offer my first impressions on it for an audience of people :) We know that when this show starts giving you answers, it can be alot to digest at once, or feel super sudden and can be easy to look over, so even though you're trying to keep your eyes out just know that the most of us understand why you get lost sometimes, because we've been there before ourselves 💓

I agree with most of what you said. Though I think people are maybe taking the "nothing happened" words a bit too literally. In context of how I interpreted him, I mostly agree with him honestly but maybe that is a very unpopular opinion considering the scores some of the later episodes of S2 get. I guess it should also be added that expectations will influence how we take things. When there are hundreds of comments saying S1 is meh or good, S2 is where it starts getting great, then you are going to expect a lot more even if you try not to take those words to heart. As you say it's hard to know what is going on, no doubt harder whilst reacting, and people take the drip feeding and ambiguity of information differently based on loads of factors. I was surprised when I saw those comments start popping up, though the last time he said similar words people got mad so guess it's just one of those things 🤷‍♂️
