toph is probably my fav character from the series. you’re only scratching the surface of her abilities

We love your rants 🥰 This was a pretty big backstory episode and I think it's hard not to have at least some connection to him just for the big character development. Most of the other characters they might get ability improvements or learn a big lesson that sustains in that episode, but Zuko is learning and changing as time goes on in a drastic way. As you said, this show tackles a lot of topics that as adults you can think a lot more on than a young kid would- such as the hatred between nations shown with Zuko going from hero to villain in their eyes when revealed

100%!! Can't wait to see more episodes with Toph! The separation...is an illusion 😏

kind of crazy that the main character of the series wasn't in this episode at all, yet you don't feel bored for a second. really goes to show what a good job they did making zuko an intriguing character. believe it or not, theres even MORE backstory involving zuko/ his family to look forward to but that comes a bit later :)

This is one of my favorite episodes in the whole show, I always look forward to it!

IMO, Zuko is as much a main character as all the rest, if not, more.

Lol, next weeks trio of episodes will be my favorite in this book. lol can't wait!

Zuko Alone is the stuff of legends… and the marker for a more serious, more continuous thread in the plot. Very excited for what’s coming!!! And Zuko is just >>>> your comments about him here are so relatable. I remember feeling that exact way about him after watching this for the first time.

i love flashback episodes probably the most, and i really like the way they sprinkle in how fkd up Azula is in a lot of them, shes always had issues and especially as a child shes a walking red flag. It really show the difference between them how Azula really takes after their father and Zuko his mother.

Enjoying this binge as I make it through this insomnia, lol.

Zuko declared himself as the heir to the throne of the people who killed Sen Su. It makes sense that they'd be mistrustful of him.

Of course they'd hate Zuko. He's in their eyes directly responsible for the war and the brother's death who is fighting in it. And what happened to Ursa (Zuko's mom) is a bit complicated. I'll explain but if you don't want to read it, don't read the answer to this comment.

Late Firelord Azulan clearly states that he DOESN'T want to betray Iroh and make Ozai the next Firelord, but when he threatens to kill Zuko by punishing his own son, Ursa (Zuko's mom) devices a plan to stop Ozai from killing Zuko (cause he was of course going to do it, he doesn't care for Zuko one bit). Ursa poisons / kills Firelord Azulan, so Ozai can become Firelord and she gets her wish of letting Zuko live. But her killing Azulan had another condition, she had to leave the Fire nation and leave her children behind (or something of the sort). So yeah.. shitty family that is hahahaha
