I think I mentioned in Orientations that Michelle has better vision as a sphinx, but yes, different mythical creatures have different senses than humans. The medallion spell that casts the human illusion also alters senses to be closer to a human's. Unturned or disguised mythical creatures might have slightly different senses than humans, but usually they're not incredibly out of the ordinary or else it'd be a lot easier to know who is unturned or not. You did indeed mention it in Orientations. Chapter 4, page 8, panel 2 Michelle's first flying lesson. She complains about how high the cliff is, then she looks down at Greg and Merial, and she's startled that she can read Merial's magazine. Jim comments on what she is, half lion and part eagle.
