HIYA!!

Ok so this is the last one in our run of K-Pop Female Soloists. We did IU. We did Jeon Somi. And now we're doing Hwasa. Not sure if you've listened to Mamamoo ... but Elaine was a big fan.

I've only really heard of her song "Maria" because it was a pretty amazing feature in the k-drama "True Beauty" - if you haven't seen this high school CLASSIC, you need to!! Actually this scene made Elaine LAUGH SO HARD. Oh, I miss that girl.

Hwasa recently signed on with P-Nation (Psy's label) after leaving her agency. And then she released these two amazing tracks. Can we just talk about the anthem I LOVE MY BODY is?? I'm pretty sure we can talk hours around the topic of beauty standards in both Asia and the US. But to come out with a single that's like - hey, I love my body, every bit of it, what's it to you?

It kind of reminds me of the song that Le Sserafim's Yunjin released "'I ≠ DOLL" - people be talking stuff, especially those who are in front of the public eye like k-pop idols. It's something to love yourself no matter how you look.

Anyways, Ima step off this soap box for now and save that for the one day we have podcast-y things. But yeah.

CHILI. Wish I could dance like those SWF2 dancers!

And I wish I had captions for LMM. Sorry for my fault. I bow my head down again.

Ok bye!!

I'm so happy we did Hwasa too!! She is so iconic - I can only imagine how amazing the rest of the girls are. Adding these recs to the Playlist now!! Which guide do you think is best? I've been stacking them up in case we decide to do another guide day. Thanks for watching!

I am so excited sorry lol Ok so, this is the best guide out there for me, a lot of people will recommend you the purple hawk one, but I don’t since it’s super outdated (2020) and there is a lot of information missing now. So this 2022 guide in two parts is super good: Part1 - https://youtu.be/c5VpPrwjziM?si=GOB15BbOUcoTFiSE Part2 - https://youtu.be/UYRzCrh4avs?si=qoh_bL1ARjEH-goJ And you can complete it with this video which is not a guide as it but it does talk about what mamamoo has gone through and how they started and is pretty new. https://youtu.be/PJubdObog5s?si=OT3-V_B0574-mg3T I will anxiously be waiting for your new mamamoo content (whenever it will be dw) and also for you to discover one of the funniest and most talented group in the world!!!

Amazing ... adding these on now. Not sure when we'll get to it but I'll try to bump the girlies up!!

A little late to the party but I super recommend more Hwasa and Mamamoo. They are all four of them incredible artists and very relatable people. I would also urge you to look up the lyrics to lmm. It talks about similar topics as Maria does, having to deal with hate and pressure in the public eye, so it was a very poignant choice of her to sing it at that show so shortly after the actor died. She was apparently originally supposed to sing I love my body but changed it when the news came. I did also hear the actor who passed away wasn't necessarily a very nice person, but it was still a great call from Hwasa and a good opportunity to highlight the topic. And she might not have known what the actor was like. And these are just things I've heard from what seemed like reliable sources but might still be incorrect.
