This movie was tough to find. We prefer English Dub over having to read subtitles especially for a reaction, but everywhere we looked we only found the subtitled versions. Unless we wanted to wait a month to get an older DVD.


But then we found a few versions on Youtube with the Bruce Faulconer Music so we went with that. The version had some issues, but nothing that severely took away from our enjoyment of  the movie. Because it's up on Youtube for free to watch you don't need to synch it up with us.

Don't read on if you plan on watching the Freeza arc in the show as well, but as I understand it, you don't. In the show Piccolo actually dies (and is pretty much immediately brought back). afaik it's not a canon death but the show does reference it later.

Gohan hasn't been training so he lost is ultimate form currently. To explain the new form(SUPER SAIYAN BLUE} its when they use super saiyan god(red hair one) and then turn super saiyan on top of it. thats why the name of the new form is sometimes called (super saiyan god super saiyan). its the super saiyan form of the god form. and its sadly the youtube video that added the loud music

I love the content, just have a few things. The movies from this point forward can be watched dubbed on Crunchy Roll. Gohan was stronger than Goku during the Buu saga but years have passed since then and Gohan has gotten weaker. He can't access his Ultimate form due to that. Hate to say it but the dubbed version is on Crunchyroll, so you should have watched that. the visual filter on this and the screen being cropped to an incorrect size kinda blemished the experience. Also the fight between Freiza and Goku was turned into a music video that drowned out all of the important dialogue. I'm a little bit disappointed ngl. One last thing Super Saiyan Blue is 50 times stronger than Super Saiyan God (The form used to fight beerus the first time) its basically Super Saiyan used on top of Super Saiyan God.

R.I.P. Chris Ayres, truly the best Frieza of our time. You can really tell just how much fun he had doing this movie. So Jaco the Galactic Patrolman is a character from yet another one of Akira Toriyama's many manga's he's done over the years, so they're adding him into the fold as well from his respective series. I'm not the biggest fan of the Faulconer score and the sound mixing certainly could've been done better in this edit; it's very obvious which songs were edited in and I cringe hearing the score overpower the character's dialogue and in some instances, having it just flat out play over everything else. So yeah, not the best edit. Still, I'm appreciative that this version at least still kept the original movie's score somewhat intact (probably because they likely didn't know how to rip the background OST from the dialogue and sound effects but I digress). Side note, that insert song when Frieza is regenerated is amazing and actually existed for years prior to this movie's making. Not gonna lie, I'm not the biggest fan of this movie/arc. It kinda epitomizes the worst of DB where it just feels like fanservice-y "strong guy is here, here's new sparkly transformations, ok they win, move on". Especially now that Super Saiyan Blue is kind of just the de-facto Super Saiyan now. Also, Vegeta REALLY should've had that win. Either way it's got its decent moments, and it is nice to see Frieza being his usual sadistic, racist self. The movie's visuals as well are pretty decent ESPICIALLY compared to the Super anime, so it's got that going for it (jarring 3D CGI aside). Overall, I'm glad we're moving onto some of the better arcs Super has to offer, but I'm glad y'all enjoyed this one.

this looks like a bootleg version of the movie wish they got to see the actual movie. The animations & color scheme is gorgeous which this doesn't show, also the uploader cut the screen a bit & their music was crazy loud! There added old school dbz music kinda ruined the vibe of the film lol but HEY i'm happy we made this far!

Someone should point out if they haven't already there is some lore that they're missing from the dragon ball manga. Frieza's race number one never had to train to reach their levels. They're aliens called "frost demons" in the manga. So Frieza actually training would make him very scary, very fast & number 2 there's a lot of lore & background history on Jaco in the manga called Jaco the Galactic Patrolman. Explains how him & the briefs met & his role in the universe overall.

Got to the part of the discussions about transformations so I'll try to lay it out as straight as possible: Super Saiyan (this one used to have "grades", like Super Vegeta and Trunks' super buff form, but those are more or less retired) Super Saiyan 2 (with the lightning) Super Saiyan 3 (long hair, heavy energy drain) Super Saiyan God (red hair, first hint of "divine energy", SHOULD'VE just been called "Saiyan God" but Toriyama/Toei don't ever plan anything out) Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (SSGSS) or as they're gonna call it going forward: (Super Saiyan Blue), which is just the Super Saiyan version of the red hair form. Ridiculous, I know. Gohan's mystic form is basically his version of Super Saiyan 3 (likely stronger than it), however as Ken said, it's implied by this film, because he's so rusty and hasn't been training, he's unable to perform the transformation at the moment. There's others like Broly's Legendary Super Saiyan, which is just basically a roided out version of Super Saiyan and there is a Super Saiyan 4 from GT, but I'd say those are pretty irrelevant as of right now for y'all.

Gohan couldn’t go into his mystic form because he’s hasn’t playing training for so long. You can tell he’s in mystic form when he has his bangs out. Super sayian Blue(Super sayian God super sayian) is actually stronger than his Red hair(Super sayian God)

So a few differences between the movie and the show. Totem and Trunks show up as Gotenks and try to fight, but the fusion runs out before he does anything. Frieza recognizes Trunks as his killer, but wonders why he’s a child. Captain Ginyu shows up as the frog and trades bodies with one of Friezas strongest soldier, but dies cause Vegeta kills him in base form. Gohan almost dies but Piccolo stands in the way and dies, but Trunks and Goten take him to Dende. Goku has some trouble finding Gohan’s Ki it eventually does. Gohan almost dies powering up to max to summon Goku. I believe that’s the most noticeable changes. The movie was probably the best version to see. The animations wanted to quickly summarize the movie and it shows, it’s not done well. Oh and yeah, people were disappointed in Vegeta getting shafted. But we have a whole show to look forward to.

The reason Gohan couldn't go into his Ultimate/Mystic form was because yes, he hasn't been keeping up with his training. That's why he also appears skinnier in this movie as well as in the anime. And because of Frieza training for all those months, even if Gohan could access his mystic form, he would still be overshadowed by Frieza's new power. Frieza's power growth in such a short amount of time has scary implications for the future. Also for the other question, the red hair is called Super Saiyan God. Whereas the blue hair form (which is also stronger than the red hair form) is called Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, as it is a combination of the God Form and Super Saiyan. Later down the line they just shorten the name to Super Saiyan Blue.

They're added a filter to the screen to create a more retro-anime lighting to the movie, and the old-school DBZ soundtrack. But they're made the sound REAL loud to cover up the real music. It feels kind of intrusive. I think people are WAY too into the old school music; there's nothing wrong with the music in Super. Although....I did fucking love the Frieza song when he came out of the machine. When Whis said that the two of them could go to toe to toe with Beerus, I don't think he meant that quite at face value. Beerus is billions of times stronger than them. I think he just meant that the two of them cooperating in their training and helping each other advance might eventually get them there. Gohan's power up to his "mystic form" was basically his full power. It let him hit the ceiling of what he was capable of at that time. It's a 'form' after a fashion; it's his full potential as a hybrid. The best way to think of it is if SSJ is his Super Saiyan form, then the Mystic form is his Super Human form, and it's better. But he can't do it anymore because he's not been training and he's a fraction of the power he was at when he fought Buu.

when it comes to the difference in the red and blue is that the red is super saiyan god but blue is super saiyan god super saiyan sounds silly I know thats why ppl shorten it to just super saiyan blue

That's super saiyan god super saiyan! (Just call it super saiyan blue cuz nobody is saying that) Both Goku and Vegeta screwed up as Whis foretold. Goku got overconfident and Vegeta had those badass lines but he was overthinking again (He took a loooong time to step in), and that was their punishment. Vegeta didn't get the kill and Goku had to do a cheap shot, which he hates (He was complaining about it earlier lol). That's what they get for not working together (The next movie might tackle that!) I love Jaco, I have a soft spot for him, he was the first teacher of my character in Xenoverse!

At 1:24:32, you couldn't hear it because of the music, but what Vegeta said was "That's right, Freeza, You're not dealing with the average Super Saiying Warrior anymore. I, Prince Vegeta, am now a Super Saiying Blue!" Lol!

The editing was NOT done well on whatever this version was, I agree lol. Ignoring the visuals, they seemed to have just slapped Faulconer's OST on whatever scene they felt like, without adjusting for volume or adding keynotes or anything else like that. Not only that, but I suspect they didn't know how to separate the audio tracks (since I assume the English dub is in Surround sound), that's why for certain scenes, like during Frieza's death, there's absolutely no audio from the movie and just the overbearing added music. Also for the record that Frieza song is in the original film, just in case you were unaware.; it's called "F" by Maximum the Hormone. It actually predates this film by a few years if I'm correct and was even inspiration behind its title.

Ok so sorry cause this will be pretty long I just wanna help explain as much as I can as far the power scaling and transformations go. Information mainly brought by Manga, Anime, and Guide Books. So I guess will start with the easier of the two. Transformations- Saiyans so real quick for the first Super Saiyan forms(SS) the Golden haired ones used to go by grades not numbers but honestly as far as we've seen they manly apply to SS1 they weren't really used after but could potentially be applied to the other 2 forms. The Golden and God forms all have their own multipliers that stack on top of one another. The God forms Super Saiyan God(SSG) and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan(SSGSS) or Super Saiyan Blue(SSB) as it is now called is when Goku and Vegeta use God Ki. The blue haired version is the Super Saiyan Version of Super Saiyan God Which makes it stronger. One thing we do know is the Multipliers for the first 3 Super Saiyan forms but I don't think we have any for the grades so I will go the most commonly excepted multiplier for the first since it should be stronger after mastering it List of forms/multipliers 1.0-Super Saiyan Grade 1 (Goku on Namek) usually characterized by fluffer less defined hair 1.1-Super Saiyan Grade 2 (Super Vegeta) any Saiyan in this form is is buffer and stronger with no loss of speed 1.2-Super Saiyan Grade 3 (Super Trunks) any Saiyan in this form as far bigger and stronger then Grade 2 but at the cost of speed 1.3-Super Saiyan Grade 4 (Goku&Gohan post Hyperbolic Time Chamber/Room of Spirit&Time) any Saiyan in this form can remain in a stronger form with little to power loss what so ever even being able to sleep in it this form as has a multiplier of at least 50x since that is what's stated in several guides but it may be higher 2-Super Saiyan 2 (Gohan VS Cell) any Saiyan in this form usually has more spiked and defined hair along with more lighting in the aura and it has a 2x Multiplier making the Saiyan in this form 100x then their base form 3-Super Saiyan 3 (Goku VS Buu) any Saiyan in this form has very long Hair with no eyebrows the multiplier for this form is 4x making the Saiyan now 400x stronger then their base form 4-Super Saiyan God (Goku VS Beerus) any Saiyan in this form will have red hair and thinner physic along with being in their base or at least a form that looks like it and it has no stated multiplier but is stated to be stronger then any thing in DBZ 5-Super Saiyan Blue (Goku VS Frieza) any Saiyan in this form will take on a Blue haired version of the Super Saiyan form making this form 50x stronger then the red form Frieza Race forms So for starters friezas race never trains as they are naturally gifted and their forms are to lower their power and when in their final form their actually in their true form as far as the Golden form goes frieza just learned to break his limits and it's basically stated he could have chosen any color he wanted to which is interesting Gohan Ultimate Form Basically in DBZ it's stated that Gohan in his Ultimate form is the Strongest Unfused Saiyan at the time though as of now in Super he's not training at all so essentially just couldn't do it plus remember in the buu saga he even had a bit of trouble then and was rusty I'll be it that was before his Ultimate form but still it's shows his tendency to get to comfortably in times of peace Now something else I feel like saying is kinda how Ki works in dragon since these Characters are always getting stronger yet not always blowing up the planets or how someone not being completely calm and collected can mess with their power since most of this info comes from interviews with the creator and the real life Ki Systems he says it's similar to and the faced that this things aren't made easy for non-Japanese to find or read being that their hardly Translated and were hard to come by for a while So someone with enough Ki control can use it to fire energy Blast and power up their bodies even being able to use it for Magic, Telekinesis, Telepathy, and potentially even healing but most of these things aren't used by the main cast seeing as how the most Fist to fist fighter with the occasional blast and as far as the last goes with enough Ki control one can even control the area it will effect making it so I could fire a Blast strong enough to destroy several planets yet it's contained in a specific area to better deal damage to the opponent however this seems to go out the window for that sake of fight when it comes to people like broly who is stated to lose control but it is what it is and God Ki is the Same but extraordinarily better which we can get into as the series goes on But ya this is already long but I'll end it by saying at this to simply put though it's not accurate is that Goku and Vegeta and anyone on their level in their base form is capable of destroying universes at least with no problem and Goku from having his body learn from his fight with beerus and making the God power his own the strength he has now in base is stronger the power he had when first went Super Saiyan God since you know he's been since then so ya base form Goku and Vegeta can beat all of DBZ easy which is Kooky and Crazy and it only Kookier and Crazier so If to anyone who decided to read this I hope you liked it

didn't know you guys liked dub versions so much cause i really want you guys react to a show called jujutsu kaisen season 2 just finished one of the best shows of the decade same genre as DBZ just a tad bit darker the sub is crazy good their vocals etc you guys are missing out if you pick the english dub over the original japanese dub and its very easy to find too crunchroll netflix so on

It's so sweet how much 18 adores Krillin, there's so many moments in the manga and GT that show more of this. I'm so glad you picked up on this, they are both absolute couple goals, stay tuned for more of them as the series progresses ;) Yeah Super Saiyan Blue here is kind of a prototype of that form which does become a staple, but you'll learn more about it and how it develops as the series goes on. Also this was a massive edit on the actual movie, loud music (it was the original DBZ dub music and themes, was so nice to hear the Vegeta bells theme again), colours and aspect ratio changes were all done to avoid YouTube blocking it and make it look more like the DBZ movies of old. So the actual movie doesn't have those problems/changes.

The music sounded good for that reason, but yes, it was very loud. I haven’t seen this “clean” version yet. I also watched a low quality version. This was much better by comparison. The quality was really bad. I should’ve watched it months (even years) ago when it was easier to access. I just kept putting it off lol.

I wouldn’t use “WAY into” it. “Perfectly into” it works just fine. And it not overrated, but they messed up here. Super’s was good. There’s one I remember catching a lot at the end that played during certain scenes which was always nice to hear. I haven’t really been able to take all of it in yet.

People said so much, I’ve got nothing. Edit: I lied. Please continue watching stuff in English Dub. A lot of people get weird about Sub, and there’s this whole Dub vs Sub thing… But there’s a reason dubbing (in general) exists. I think it has more to do with there being some sort of “cringe epidemic” and people not wanting to understand what’s being said in case it makes them “squirm” or something. It’s easier to say something’s better I guess when you’re not fully judging it. I’m not going to lie, I’m kind of pulling this stuff out of my rear lol. I just get a little miffed when it comes to the “sub is better” people. I’m just going to watch stuff in a language I understand, generally. In the past, I’d switch to sub if English was updating too slow or even the manga on rare occasion if the anime was taking too long. And then, I would still go back to those English updates to see how they did it lol.

I actually got to see Battle of Gods and Resurrection F in theaters on release day. Epic experience watching anime in a theater with other people. Great reaction as usual, glad you guys are continuing this show.

I grew up watching Dragon ball, DBZ & GT with my older brothers. From the time i was a baby to my adult years & Bruce Faulconers music is absolute GENIUS! I listen to Goku's ssj3 & Vegeta's piano theme when i go to the gym it's part of my workout playlist but Resurrection F didn't need that. I feel the ost of the movie fit every mood & scene perfectly in this movie & some of the silence without music made things erry & quiet. I'm so happy they watched this but i hate that they watched it this way because it's not really the genuine artifact but i'm still grateful they got this far. They're amazing content creators but this was underwhelming, not there reaction but the movie edit itself, they could barely hear some of the most important, epic lines lol

The movie was better in terms of animation and because we get to move onto better things much quicker, but I do miss the part in the show where Captain Ginyu briefly returns.

This film could've reached BoG heights, loved the usage of the other Z fighters and even Roshi who hasn't been active since OG DB. But what really ruins it for me deeply is how the film took away what could've been one of the best moments in Dragon Ball history in Vegeta being the one to end Frieza this time. There's so much build up in that from all the way back in Namek, it shows that Vegeta truly has closed the gap between him and Goku and it's just an all round awesome moment. I get they wanted to use the Chekov gun of Whis and his time travel ability but I'd be much happier if nothing came of that plot point and we got a great character moment for Vegeta. Couple that with the fact I don't particularly like the Blue hair transformation as much, I find it uninspired, lazy and basically Super Saiyan but blue. At least Super Saiyan God made Goku look slimmer, had the fiery aura and his eyes looked different, that and I felt it stood out more than the blue form. Anyway looking forward to the rest of your journey, hope you guys catch up in time for DB Daima this year so you can be weekly watching with the rest of the community

Just wanted to chime in so you understand the Blue haired form. It's technically called super saiyan god super saiyan. He is essentially combining his new God form (red hair) with his already innate ability to turn super saiyan. So blue is actually even stronger, and that speaks levels as to how strong Frieza got... without God ki... Just think of the red hair as a new baseline that he just took to a super saiyan level :) Just with God ki instead of normal ki. Also, vegeta attained God ki without the ritual. He was simply exposed to so much of it while training with Goku Beerus and Whis that his body just adapted and made it his own. Meaning unlike Goku, he did that by himself. So cool

Going to be honest,the music playing over the voices sort of ruined it for me. As well as the overly saturated colours to make it look like a 90s film just threw it off,missed the whole cinematic experience. Loved the reaction,but could hardly hear because of the bruce falconer music lol

okay i see what they were going for but damn the filter and music being so loud really does ruin the movie lol. I literally just came and watched certain parts because i mainly wanted to see you're reactions to the transformations/key points haha.
