Full watch-along reaction to DBZ Kai #158

That insert song near the end is called, "Let It Burn" and is easily one of the most underrated insert songs DBZ ever gets. I know the Sumitomo score for Buu Kai is underwhelming for some but this makes it all worth it for me. That and the narrator's closing lines seal the deal and never fail to give me chills. "The whole universe is watching," indeed. Art and animation are so on point for this and future episodes, it's insane. They really went all out giving this a nice sense of finality.

Should also mention that as I typed this out, TFS just dropped a new episode of HFIL on their Patreon so be on the lookout for that on YT at some point.

Yes, the blonde guy is actually Hercules in the sense that, according to King Kai, the legend of Hercules is based off of him. The wiki refers to him as Olibu.

Reminder that this Buu is one of the weaker version of Buu. That's why both Goku and Vegeta are confident to take him one on one, while they're scared shitless against the previous Buu.

I love the song at the end 🔥

The anime (both the English and Japanese dubs) take serious liberties by repeatedly implying that Kid Buu is the strongest version of Buu. He actually isn't; he's the second weakest after Fat Buu, which is one reason why Goku and Vegeta are willing to take the risk of fighting him on his own. In the manga, and indeed in the narrative itself, Kid Buu is necessarily weaker than Super Buu, let alone Buutenks or Buuhan. Because if Kid Buu is stronger, it makes the entire fusion arc cease to make any sense (since Goku is fighting more or less evenly with Kid Buu - at least for now. Why the heck would he need the earings at all if that's the case? Surely if Kid Buu is the strongest, and Goku's equal to him, shouldn't Goku have been able to beat up Buuhan on his own? And why would he have been trying to convince Vegeta to fuse with him again after the depowered Buuhan down to Superbuu instead of saying :"Right, let's get out there and I'll kick his ass"?) Having said that, Kid Buu is still enormously strong. And they may come to regret not using the Potara. Or grabbing Gohan and having him fight Buu.....

Love this comment! This is why I always try to explain to people. Dragon ball z story is very complex & can def be confusing for new comers.
