The worst part is that Cell being several parts saiyan means he probably got a power boost from getting healed by that senzu bean.

Satan's daughter is named Videl, and that "sweet hair" line she said is a reference to future dbz episodes where she has the exact same hairstyle as Gohan lol. You might remember her from some of your other dbz media, she's a playable character in most of the games.

To this day, Goku giving the senzu bean is still a very controversial for the fan base. A lot of people who've even seen the series, where Goku SPELLS OUT, why he gave Cell the bean, don't get it. I'll go into more detail when the fight's over. But giving Cell that bean was not the random act of stupidity that a lot of people think it was.

Doesn't make a difference. Even without the bean, Cell was perfectly capable of killing Gohan. Then Goku. Then everyone else.

Your reactions to the story beats this episode were top tier! The hype for the Warp Kamehameha, the confusion at Goku giving up, and especially Bethany's scream of No at the Senzu Bean, were all just *chef's kiss*. Ah, that ending. The only appearance in Abridged of my 3rd favorite character from the series. On the bright side, even if we don't ever get Season 4, you'll at least get to hear her VA a lot in a future show. Her name is Sarah Anne Williams, and she voices the character of Tifa in Final Fantasy 7 Machinabridged. To describe Cell's relationship with Goku the way TFS does, they're both "fightsexual." They both love a really good fight, which is why there was so much aroused tension at the start, and why the "this was just a fight, nothing more" is met with such animosity from Cell at the end. I am ashamed of myself for forgetting Dragon Shortz and HFIL.

Goku giving Cell a senzu bean is honestly one of the most controversial moments in the entire series though in the original it was to show how much confidence he had in Gohan

We know Goku always likes to fight people at their strongest so imagine that has something to do with it. He has a lot of belief in Gohan which is sweet....as long as he's right 😛

Thank you for these awesome reactions! I knew you would freak out about Goku giving Cell that senzu bean and it did not disappoint. It’s refreshing to see people watch this without any context, it makes for a truly unique experience. In the original, before the Cell Games started, the Z Fighters straight up asked Goku if he could beat Cell and laughed when he said no. Then he said he was dead serious and they were all terrified while Goku was completely calm. Goku insisted that everything would be fine. Of course, now you know he planned to have Gohan fight and, as Bethany mentioned, he’s a pretty smart boy so his dad has high hopes. Side note, the disclaimer was read by Larry the cameraman.

So personally, I’m not a huge fan of DBZ Kai because of the difference in dialogue from the original. It doesn’t capture it as well ESPECIALLY with Vegeta’s lines. Because you guys like Vegeta so much I would recommend doing the original DBZ dub and not Kai but whatever your decision I will support 110% cause I love y’all’s reactions! Last thing, if you’re starting from the beginning, then definitely DBZ Kai. If you’re continuing from after the Cell Saga, I’d stick with original dub. Looking forward to your reactions!
