He brings the best form to the table when coming within a few lengths of Alenquer and Love on his penultimate start who are rated 120 and 118 respectively. then followed that up with a lacklustre performance in Medan when missing the break but finishing strong and that was his seasonal reappearance so he can be excused but even that form alone looks the best on offer. should be fitter for his last efforts and looks to be in a different league than the rest of this field. & still has plenty of scope for improvement and connections are in good form.

I am a bit surprised he isn’t odds on and I think he will shorten before the off. He has by far the best hurdles form rated 122 compared to Lakota warriors best RPR being 110 and he is proven over this trip and I wouldn’t be convinced the 2nd fav will stay the trip. Skatman is a big horse who looks to be better suited chasing and he won a PTP so he should cope well with the fences. He only has to concede 1lb to Lakota warrior which looks very manageable.

Good profit made this season with games involving Athlone, 8 of Athlone’s last 9 games has seen 2nd half most goals, out of them 25 goals scored in them 9 matches there was only 7 goals scored in the 1st half, the other 18 all coming after the break, 5 of the last 6 H2h games vs Cobh has also seen 2nd half more goals, the only 1 which didn’t finished 0-0, over 1.5 2nd half goals & over 2.5 goals landed in all 5 of them 6 games also, over market is also being well supported in the exchange. Athlone are without a win in 23 games, their last win was October 1st vs Cabineteely which was against 10 men, 1 of the reasons as to why they concede so many goals in the final quarter is due to poor fitness levels throughout their squad, Cobh are also struggling this season in this bottom of the table clash they only have won 1 game in their last 12 games and ironically that was a 3-2 win vs athlone April 18th which seen 4 2nd half goals.

Currently priced 2nd in the exchange, Smith comes into this tournament in solid form after winning the Us Masters beating MvG 8-4 in the final which I tipped him up last weekend at Odds of 9/2 (5.50) ✅

then then he also Won the Dutch darts championship the previous weekend averaging 99.44 in the final, he also was the premier league night winner on the 26th of May registering impressive 3 wins, beating Van gerwen 6-4, Gerwyn Price 6-3, then Jonny Clayton 6-3 in the final, May 10th & 11th he won players championship 14 & 15 back to back which is very impressive a solid consistency, the format of this draw favours him unseeded 1st round opponent than likely to play Gary Anderson in 2nd round whos only had 1 win in his last 10 games, smith is most likely to meet Peter wright in the semi final who has been inconsistent on stage throughout 2022, although wright won the last 4 h2h’s between them smith is in better form throughout the past few months despite the rankings. Van gerwen announced on Twitter few days ago about a medical condition called Carpal tunnel Syndrome in his hand and later this month after the premier league finishes up he’ll miss the World Cup along with other tournaments & most likely the Matchplay out for 1/2 months to recover, Smith has won his last 12 games in a row and his looking to make it a hatrick of 3 winning tournaments in a row, has a favourable draw as will play Sherrock or Darius Labanauskas in quarter final then likely Gerwyn price in semis, no Jonny Clayton in this tournament either which is a plus, on paper MvG is the favourite with the bookies but smith is in best form of his life & looks the one to beat.
