Was the soundtrack changed due to copyright issues?

Licensing reasons, yes. The royalty-free music company that I use covers YouTube videos, but not other works (like broadcast or physical media). I inquired with them about the cost for an appropriate license for the VHS release, and their quote came back at several thousand dollars -- many times more than total revenue from the tape sales. It worked out in the end, as it gives me a chance to share some of my favorite vaporwave artists.

Glad to hear that it all worked out. I’ll walk down the list of the physical release tracks and buy the ones I like. Sounds like a win-win to me.
