I agree with everything you said. As you said, everything becomes retro at some point. So it's only logical that around 2040 what would be considered retro is, well, a smartphone. And they're all so alike, si unremarkable and so hard to repair. Hardly any design ingenuities. In addition, most of our current experiences with tech are more on the software side of things, and online at that. It's going to be very hard to recreate a 2010 Facebook experience, or a MySpace replica for instance. That thought bums me out.
