In the mid- to late 1990s, tablets and e-readers weren't exactly common...and Sony's Japan-only DATA EATA models were perhaps the most  unique of them all.

What a cool device, though. How do you know how fast or slow to move the scannery bit across a page?

It looks like it uses the motor used to pull the paper through in normal scanning operation to move the scanner across the page at the rate it needs; unlike, the handheld scanners of yore.
